Trailer for Beyond Skyline

I watched this on itunes last night, wow ... my prediction is this is a instant cult classic. All the stops were pulled on this film and it totally works. I also really like the mix of humor with action as a natural feel for the genre, is almost creating a totally new genre - alien/kungfu/policedrama/apolyptic/zombie/spaceopera. Having the actors light the scenes in the tunnel against the anamorphic was brillant.

Birth Movies Death published a VERY positive review about Beyond Skyline:

Almost everyone is going to see Beyond Skyline on their home video set up rather than in a proper theater, and that's a crying shame. O'Donnell's film has as much (if not more) visual panache than the average blockbuster, for a fraction of the cost. But beyond that, this Skyline sequel seems like it would absolutely kill with the right audience. There are enough fist pumping "holy shit" moments in this one installment to fill a whole trilogy. It's as if O'Donnell recognizes the reputation of the picture he's following up, and beefed up the ludicrous spectacle quotient as a means of combatting any sort of 1:1 comparison. This isn't the Skyline we know and hate; this is a new Skyline for fans who also watch hyper-violent nightmare fuel like Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning after mainlining old school Hong Kong action cinema. So, even if you're watching O'Donnell's film on your couch, you better strap it in. Because Beyond Skyline's looking to earn the title of Modern Face Melter, and it might actually get there.

I think this will be a terrific ride - I haven't seen the original yet, though, but I intend to. It certainly looks like no expense was spared. :-)

BTW - I'm going to be a bit brutal here - I do not like the grading in the interior scenes, particularly in the train. Can we just have a nice look which does not look like it was put through fucking Photoshop by an advertising agency?

The way that digital cameras render light sources is not your fault, but it's obvious. Maybe one day someone will figure it out. A good compromise might be a film-out, which is better than nothing. If the budget allows it.
