Thinking about trading my Scarlet X kit, which is my A-cam, for a Komodo. Obviously won't be a straight trade, however should cover half the cost. What's the Pros and Cons of this decision? What would you do?

Thanks In Advance :)

Is this a trick/rhetorical question? While I haven't used a Komodo personally, on paper there is absolutely nothing the Scarlet-X does as well as (never mind "better than") Komodo.

...So ~$3k+Scarlet Brain for a Komodo? Pffft, I still have a Scarlet-X sitting here and would seriously consider that swap myself (and I certainly don't need another camera).

It's def. time to. Scarlet X has become obsolete this year, almost any camera out there has something much more capable - be it FPS, or less weight etc. Komodo is a decent swap, keep in mind that you still need to buy all the accessories, so it's a tad more than +3K, more likely +5K. But you'll get cheaper accessories, starting from RS2 (compare it to MOVI PRO), and much more single-user friendly camera.

That was my question. Scarlet Eco to Komodo Eco.
What are we talking here as far as a trade goes?
I'm still working with my Scarlet MX and probably never sell it.
With the amount of "stuff", I purchased for it, not sure if it's worth moving at this point in my career.
Probably better off just adding one to my arsenal :)

Russell what decision did you land on and did you find any more info to add to this topic?

Inquiring minds want to know ;)

Hey Russell,
What does you kit include in it? I might be interested in purchasing it if you are wanting to get a Komodo. Where are you based on planet Earth?
Cheers.

Hi everyone,

Sorry about the long delay, funnily enough, two of you above are also on a Thread I've recently added myself to. I didn't sell it in the end, due to a few factors, one being Covid and the other being lack of work.

Patrick Webb - It comes with RED monitor, Side handle, 2x 64gb, Wooden Camera V mount/Plate. It's only done 60hrs. UK based

Arvydas - That's what I think, it does have a cinematic look, maybe more so than the Komodo, there is just something very Digital about the Komodo while it does clearly have many advantages- Global Shutter, better low light etc.

Mike P/ Alex L - Yes on paper its better, but there seems to be an unknown to the quality of sensor, meaning, does it give that cinematic look? I see A LOT of people putting their Komodo for sale recently and it does make me question why.

Anyway, I look forward to discussing this further in the Scarlet thread for now.
