Could someone who has successfully used a tentacle sync e and track e with the Komodo possible help me out with the steps needed to make everything work. I have a Thomson's visuals cable from the sync e to komodo ext. timecode in menu is set to external and TC is green (but SYNC is not). I sync both devices via the app and record. When I import into resolve or premiere, it cannot sync via timecode.

Make sure that each Sync, Track E and camera are set to run at the same frame rate. The app should give you a warning if any connected tentacle device is not synced. Of course that doesn’t tell you if the camera has properly grabbed and locked the TC it’s being fed, which is why a quick “visual confirmation” is needed(just look at the app screen and the camera-obviously you can’t see if it’s frame accurate, but you can easily check that it’s to the second)(we caught a TC issue with an Fs7mkII yesterday, during our usual pre-roll “call and response” TC checks).

*edit for clarity*
When you sync your tentacle devices with the app and you hit the 'Sync' button at the bottom of the main app page and the box pops up in the middle of the screen, the top line tells you the frame rate that they will be set to. Make sure that it is set to the same base frame rate as the camera. Just tap the 'Frame Rate' button/box and select the frame rate you need, if it's not already set to it, as shown. Then just hit 'Start' and they will all be set to the same frame rate and TC.

Howdy! Christopher made a bunch of great points. Making sure both tentacles are jammed to the same timecode is key, of course.

I'll just add that we've been seeing some customers viewing their footage in "edge code" instead of "Time of Day/External" code. If the TC indicator is green, that means you have a good jam from the external source. So the cable works!

As for the SYNC light, that is in reference to tri level sync, which requires a frame-rate specific Generator lock ("Gen" or "Genlock). Once TC and GEN are green, then SYNC will turn green. I presume you're not using genlock, so the "SYNC" light won't come on. That is to be expected.

Let me know if you have any further questions!
