Unfortunately we didn't get our side-handle yet and have only the touchscreen for operating our Scarlet.

Is it normal that the screen doesn't react very frequently? Is this still under development or should I check with RED if I got a lemon?

TIA

Are you using it in cold weather?

Apparently the touchscreen is nowhere near as responsive as an iPhone. I've noticed this when playing around with an Epic, but it still wasn't too bad.

Nope, not a lemon, I think they're all just generally kind of crappy touchscreens.

I actually don't think it's the touchscreen itself though, I think the software is just very unrefined at this point.

Just to give a counterpoint (people will generally complain when something is broken but stay silent when it's fine)... I've had zero issues so far with the responsiveness of the touchscreen. Sometimes it's a little hard to press on the right spot with my stubby fingers, but I've not had an issue where I thought my touches were being ignored, or had to press hard, or anything like that..

Although I havent tested it under extreme situations... Where I live it's still nice and warm for example...

yeah its not as good as a iphone for sure, but it works well. I like it a lot. I am looking forward to improvements in the future. Also its worth noting that the image looks great even though the resolution isn't the highest out there.

Same here - no matter what I'm getting a response, but sometimes my fingers miss my target. Maybe it just varies from person to person?

I think you might be right... with mine it is not so much where you touch the screen or how you touch it, but rather the type of menu you are in. All the main menu functions work quite well but for me it is the drop down menus that are the worst. However, I find that if I hold my finger down on the selection for about two seconds it will usually register the selection.

I have had problems with my touchscreen. On my first camera test, it wasn't responsive at all. It seemed to be frozen and delayed and I would have to press 10 times to make anything happen, and when a drop down menu finally came down, it would be frozen and wouldn't side-scroll. I tried different EVF cables, I changed from AC power to Vmount power...no changes.

Then the following day. I fire up the camera and...no problems.

Then on my next camera test. It had the same problem. I called RED and was advised to reinstall my firmware, which I did and the problem persisted for a while. Then suddenly after a restart, it was fine. It's been fine since.

If you have a buggy touchscreen, try reinstalling the firmware.
