Porn helped popularize the Internet, spread the DVD format (and home video in general) and so on. Although I don't personally enjoy watching drugged-out desperate people who likely were the victims of sex abuse by their parents have sex, you can't deny porn does move technology forward.

production quality in the adult area has been on the rise in the recent years....no more shaky amateur home video content. there has been a massive move to "sensual, pro looking" content.
There have always been adult filmmakers tryign to take the high road....look at Andrew Blake....most of his work was shot on 16mm.
Not sure if were allowed to post names but if you look at websites such as Xart....their production values are better than some of the music videos you see these days on MTV.
Im surprised it took the adult industry that long to catch up on the 4K train.....I guess with the amount of content these pages need to produce every week it simply wasn't a viable option in the past in terms of workflow, editing and storage....but with computers getting more powerful and editing software making it easier to process RAW and 4K footage even on the go.....all power to them I'd say....I have no problem with adult oriented content as long as nobody gets forced to do anything. I had a few experiences in the industry in europe and I cant really share Roberts opinion...the companies we had dealings with were extremely organised, professional and courteous to their cast and crew. Some of the girls I met in the industry were the complete opposite of the general opinion of these "performers"....just open minded people that didn't mind the work and used it as means to finance their uni degrees or cars or whatever. But of course there is an underbelly to everything.

Yeah, but what's with the washed out, desaturated skintones in that video? Sure it looks "slick," but wouldn't you want to feature attractive flesh in the Flesh Trade?

I'm no porn expert by any means, but I know of one adult film shot on RED back in '08. I know because I helped set up their post pipeline, I don't know if it was ever released though or what the official title was. I know they ran into some issues trying to get it finished and released -- financial or administrative, not technical. Not long after that, Joon from Digital Playground was on here promoting one of their films they shot on RED. I'm sure plenty of other porn has been shot on RED cameras in one way or another. I think this is, at least to my knowledge, the first porn seeing a 4K/UHD release of any kind.

I think we all knew this was going to happen and with 4K TV's hitting the market fast and furious right now, it seems like the right timing.

I've been shooting food porn on RED 4K for a couple of years. I know others who shoot car porn, and I've see a few 'fashion' shoots that many in Arkansas would consider porn...

Natural evolution I think as stated above. Is there any word about better soundtracks;)

theyve been using RED ONEs in that industry for a while

but its mostly 5D and camcorder stuff

4K porn is very bad idea, even worse than 3D porn. I mean, they're airbrushing the hell out of those poor girls for Full HD already, for F sake. Sure, there will be enough "artsy" directors like Lars and Gaspar, who implement pornographic elements in their films. Not my cup of tea, I'm afraid, too boring.

Dunno if it's shot on RED or not… but it was always going to happen. They do tend to be technologically aggressive/early adopters...

Mike...thanks for the post...As far as early adopters, I would think we fit in that category ...As we have successfully "mastered" in 4K (red one) for years (GG not BG), if they are successful, we'll be right behind them in the "release" (all pun intended) of 4K. I'm not holding my breath however...The buy rates are at all time record lows thanks to a planet full of "free downloads".

Like many other redusers have commented, there are actually a fair number of producers shooting Red in this space. Keep in mind, the networks are the "bottlenecks". It wasn't until the last 24 months that they mandated an HD version in addition to an SD version of each program...Everything previously was up-rezzed.

Vadim...trust me...it's all about the lighting...our guys are magicians...saves time in post...

They may be getting a university degree, and good for them, but if you know anything about psychology and the how women's sexuality works you realize that 100% of porn actresses were abused sexually as children. 100% No Exceptions. An ex-girlfriend did a study for the Quebec government. I always thought the rate would be high, but not 100%. Study included 200 women working in adult films in Quebec. Same study showed that 60% had "serious drug addiction issues" - which is way higher than the general population here which sits at about 4% using the same metric. When you say "open minded" you truly fail to understand how women - all women in all cultures - actually feel about sex.

Wishful thinking hippie nonsense - dangerous pseudo enlightened toxic nonsense.

Don't get me wrong - I advocate for gay rights, and do think some swingers may be happy (not a choice I would make, but I can't judge there as I simply have no information to go on) but porn, stripping and prostitution are very different matters. There is no such thing as a happy, well-adjusted porn actress (male actors, maybe - I don't know). When you watch porn, you are looking at misery, plain and simple.

Good to see some common sense online and a well taken stand.
