I use the DSMC Top Mount Adjustable to mount handles on both sides of the camera. With the matte box, battery and monitor it becomes pretty heavy. How strong are the screw holes on top of the camera and is it safe to mount the handles that way?

It seems very solid and all but I just want to make sure. Would a Tactical Top Plate make it more secure or does the top plate only allows more mounting points? Here's a photo to show what I mean.

A top plate will make it more secure by providing more points of attachment to the top of the camera versus the two you are using at present. The FMJ top plate offers six screws to affix it to the top of the camera, not sure how many the RED top plate uses for attachment. It's cheap insurance, imho.

Ok it seems I have choices.

Which one do you recommend over the RED tactical top plate? They are all around the same price, any benefits getting the viewfactor, woodencamera, elements (3reality) over RED?
