Hey guys, I've been trying to figure out what would be a good length for the rods that goes between the top mounts?

From what I can figure out on the RED's site, the red is about 12" long, so that would be the ideal length I think...

I don't really need it to go pass the top mounts, all I want is mounting points between them. 'Thought this is just speculation on my part, since I won't get my Red till next monday.

Thanks.

12" will do it.

the 6" rods do not seem to fit correctly since the 2nd gen top mounts were released. They are just a bit too short. Does anyone have a trick to fix this?

And that makes them perfect for adding the cradle/battery at the rear with the help of the universal mount, a very nice setup in my opinion.

8" rods from Element Technica to go between the top mounts. 10" is the best if you only want to mount the cradle on a universal mount behind the rear top mount and dont want anything sticking out in the front of your camera. 12" if you want some rod stickin out the front.. or you can scoot it to the back but then I usually find I have too much coming out the back unless I want to balance it for handheld or something, but in that case I usually use 18" rods..

I think 10" is the best if you are going for minimal.

Well, well, now you got me thinking. I was going to go with the 12", but 10" might me a good compromise.

However, AFAIK, neither Red nor ET manufacture 10" rods, no? The only one I can find are made by zacuto, and they are an extension set...
