  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Tony Augustinack

In few words...

Tony reminds me every bit of Joseph, both Teens, well actually Joseph just got out of his Teens few days before I left for Italy,
both determined young Filmmakers, passionate about what the want and both talented young fellows.

This is why we are opening the FREE Film and Photography School at the new Studios in Italy, to give young fellows like Tony and Joseph,
that additional push and chance in life to be inspired and inspire.

I keep meeting young upcoming Filmmakers like Tony and Joseph all the time, just that they are not as fortunate to be able to afford an EPIC,
but deserving the chance to work in Cinema nonetheless, this is were we step in.

Tony makes one of the few exceptions and we are proud of him, and this should sure serve as inspiration to other young Filmmakers as well.

Thank you Ketch, that means a lot! :) I love the idea of your free Film and Photography school, I'm very excited for this for young filmmakers! Information is such a valuable tool, I have all the respect in the world for those that have mentored me and those that continue too.... I can't wait for the day where I can pass on my accumulated knowledge....

Congrats on your new camera

Makes me feel really shitty though =(

Thanks Ketch. :-)

Would really love to hear more details. I'm quit impressed ! Maybe Joseph or Tony could chime in...

Thanks Stefan,

Well I turned 19 years old this last December, I'm from central Minnesota, and I have been very blessed with doing a lot of freelance video production work within my community. I have worked very hard to earn enough money to afford this camera and it really shows hard work pays off... I started working at a boat store when I was 15 and earned enough money to afford some gear to start to pursue my dreams. Over the last four years I have worked on many projects, including many that weren't the most exciting, but I knew it would all pay off in the end. Now I sit and type this with an EPIC-M beside me... I had only dreamt this day would come! :)

wish i have a rich family :(

I understand this is fair stereotype.... but for the record my family does not come from any type of money, and I have completely earned every dime on my own.... I am proud of to be able to say that! :)

Like Tony, I can say that what little success we may have already received, we owe a lot to our parents. We have been blessed with rich families. Not "rich", as in the monetary sense (we both pay for our own gear out of our own pockets), but "rich" in the sense of the love, support, and nurturing we have been given to begin carrying out our dreams.

I equate "richness" to the kind of people I am surrounded by. In this, I can't say I could ask for much more...

Extremely well said Joseph... :)

@ Joseph

Thank you for everything, seriously you've been a huge inspiration to me and hope I can be to others... I just want to say Joseph is an amazing young man and has became one of my best friends, I love getting to work side by side with him and thats why we are "teaming up" on as many projects as we can! We work very well together and even with a job that already doesn't feel like work, this makes it even less like work... :) Anybody that has gotten to meet him, will be able to relate... He has a very bright future ahead of him! Thank you Joseph and I hope the best for you and your pursuit of dreams!

Congrats !! Tony we are gonna miss you at the Boundary Waters. But all of us Guys are Happy for you and cant wait to here all the EPIC things that happened out there.

Congratulations Tony! I'm glad all your dreams are coming true, and good luck with everything in the next couple weeks look forward to seeing you when you get back!!! Now put Epic-M #282 to work buddy!

Tony, keep doing what you're doing [Joseph too]. It's working. You're not the only one who is (or was) killing it at this age. And I know exactly where you guys are coming from when Joseph mentions the parental support. I owe everything I've accomplished to my parents, for supporting me in whatever I did and for teaching me more than they probably realize.

Thanks Stefan,

Tony, thanks for sharing your story. You just made my day ! I'm so freaking happy for you ! :-)

I have the deepest respect for self-made men and what you have achieved at your age is simply amazing and inspiring.

Congrats once again !

Joseph, you and Tony are Rockstars.

Paying your own gear with your own money, at your age, tells me you guys have a lot of ambition...

Thumbs up. :-)

Thanks so much Stefan!! My passion fuels this ambition.... :)

Since I got my EPIC last week it has been one thing after another, its insane and I can't wait for everyone to get their EPIC. This camera changes everything.... again... :) Jim has been saying this all along, and I have trusted him, but when you actually get it in your hands and use it in the real world.... What he has been saying fully sets in.... Its incredible and an engineering miracle...

If anybody has any questions on EPIC-M or wants me to post R3Ds, pictures, or videos anything with the camera please feel free to ask! Its the least I can do...

Tony,

Im also 19 (I'll be 20 in July) Hearing your story makes me want to push harder. You are exactly the story I've been looking for, Someone to prove to me that you don't have to be... old/er... to achieve success. I just reached my Goal of $4000 while being a full time student, to go in halves on a Scarlet Fixed with my Uncle. And every penny of that has been earned by doing small video jobs around town and some of those jobs may not have been fun but are completely necessary to get what I want.

The fact that you now have an Epic at 19 tells me that I can shift gears and push to the front of the pack and put down that preconceived notion that just because Im young doesn't mean I can't produce good work too.

Game On!:coolgleamA:

One thing I've noticed is that sometimes we can take a statement out of context due to at least one of several things:

(a) We don't know the author's attitude/sense of humor
(b) English is not the author's first language
(c) Author failed to include an emoticon to accompany his/her joke

Whether or not someone says something I believe is correct/incorrect, I find it best not to make judgements against people by making assumptions of another's position in life (age/gender/profession) because I would not only be criticizing a fellow forum member, but also (in a way) degrading another individual's worth just because he happens to be in the same demographic.

Anyway, I'm just saying what's worked for me in the past during my small amount of success regarding networking...

After look at my post 4 hours later I can't even believe I even wrote it!

I apologize, I was out of line, I absolutely took your comment the wrong way.

I have had that said to me in a negative light in the past I find it insulting because I don't have a lot of money either, I've worked hard for ever penny I have and I could never afford an Epic, hell I can't even afford a Scarlet, I have to go in halves on one and I'm thankful I can even do that.

Regardless of all that, I let my emotions get the best of me. I was wrong and I apologize.

So I removed my comment so no one else reads my comment and takes your comment out of context like I did and also so hopefully I can save face and not look like too big of a dick. Well that second one was worth a shot anyway.
