Tokina Vista VS Sigma Cine

Hi, everybody! For those who could already look at a question on it alive. What set should be bought Tokina or to wait for entry into the market

Don't get me wrong, Tokina seem cool too, but sigmas just rock.

You can cheaply add EF mount matching lenses for a B cam or for second unit shots when you need to, and want to hand focus. Just kick ass lenses the sigmas are. 18-35 is a total maniac lens if you haven't used it.

My complaints are a friability of the image, it isn't enough sharpness initially and the most important is CA.

Does friability mean sharpness ?

I don't have a CA problem with the Sigmas, and they are quite sharp.

Best advice I could give is try both efore you buy.

There is a tiny bit of CA on the Sigma Art primes wide open, but only in very very high contrast scenes. It is still controlled better than 99% of the other brands at 1.4
You'll probably see the Dragoncolor2 out of gamut fringe before the actual CA.

Sharpness is crazy, colors are good. Bokeh is good looking at any stops. Creamy but not too much.

Go for Sigma, there is a whole set soon to be completed, prime+zoom which mean the Cine set will be updated too.

With the 14mm and 135mm coming in the next few days, the only missing now is the 100 Art, I'm guessing it's probably coming end of the year to replace their 100 macro.

With the DSLR version, and a Rtmotion Latitude extending the focus range, they became my go to lenses, even on TV commercials, as long as there is no sound, otherwise I'll use a separate motor. The AF motor is noisy.

I just wish the PL version had motors inside so I could use them on every regular "non-looked" projects.

is there anything more on this... market does need a 95mm fronted good macro.. not sure if Sigma are the guys to do that?

Personally with a 85 and 135 there is no real need to do a 100mm.. there is a far bigger FOV jump between the 35 and 50 or 50 and 85 and I don't see them coming out with a 40 or 65..

Indeed you're right, but DSLR lenses don't usually have anything between 35 and 50, but do have 100mm. I'd rather have a 65 AND a 100mm to be honest...

Ahh Tokina has a small leg up there right now - they have a 100mm PL macro.

The IBE Raptor macros are pretty baller though... worth looking at.

Absolutely.. for loads of real life shots you really need something wider than a 100mm..

My ideal would be something classic macro and easy from 105-135mm + 55-65 + something wider but it def doesn't need to be a 1:1...

The 18-35mm and 50-100mm are currently for sale in the United States and Japan. The rest of the prime series, as well as the zooms, are expected to be available worldwide around NAB 2017.
