What is the weight of this lens in the new housing? Does it need extra support on the EF mount?

Not sure of the exact weight, but it seems to be only very slightly heavier than the original version.

No, no extra support is necessary for the EF mount.

Just for reference I've bought 2/2 truckloads of gear from Bill and every single thing came in mint and packed like an absolute boss 100% recommendation from the seller

Very curious about this lens. Does anyone know how it compares to the GL Optics cinevized version? (Sorry to hijack your thread Bill.)

Hi Rob,

Obviously GL Optics and Cinematics use the same base lens, and GL's finished version has a little smaller diameter than the Cinematics version. There is a common misconception that GL Optics strips their converted lenses down to the loose glass elements, but this isn't the case, as both versions are essentially resleeved with the electronics stripped out. GL Optics does make use of planetary gears to increase the focus throw, while the Cinematics version is a straight connection to the original internal focus gear.

And that's about it, really. Both are well made and are parfocal, and both resolve identical images - and one costs nearly 3 times what the other costs.

This particular lens is the 3rd copy we have, and the first two are used extensively in our productions. This 3rd copy has been kept as a backup, but after a few months of sitting unused, we realized it's not needed. I think we paid around $1300 for it and it took 6 weeks to build and ship. This one has never been mounted to a camera and is ready to go.
