  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

TOIA's NAB... DAY 1 - The Stand outs.

There was a silent buzz going around the NAB camps that APPLE are about to release 4k/5k led 27 inch for under 3k. (Thunderbolt). Using the same tech as the new IPAD3.... How true this I do not know... I do know of somebody that has seen this monitor in the flesh last year. but !!!!... APPLE are shockingly quite these days. Who the hell knows that they are doing...
So knowing that this miracle monitor is (possibly) coming out from APPLE... is it wise to buy a PRO Monitor as yet.... Apple LEDS are amazing, there is know one disputing that. a 4/5k version. WOW...

The day Intel announced Thunderbolt, they demoed it squirting data at a 'prototype 4K Apple Cinema display' - this was last year.

So the rumours have some basis in fact, and are old news.

Black Magics new Camera is a TOY... but fun none the less. Would never be able to be used in any of my jobs, only because of its design. but still for $3000... its the best 4k Handy cam out there. Looks like alot of fun. The IPAD brigade will love it.

I was pretty excited about this as a witness cam for Greenscreen. (RAW, uncompressed 2.5k!? Hell yeah!). I asked one of the reps what the refresh rate was like on the sensor. He couldn't tell me. Got to the front of the line and did a medium speed pan. The screen almost slanted to a 45 degree angle. The camera is a joke. Hack a GH2 or something if you are desperate. The black magic cam is garbage. Shooting handheld will be embarrassing.

Thunderbolt.... 1 year later... not very much further progressed.. Very disappointing

Life Apple had released a new Mac Pro in the last year things would be very different on the Thunderbolt front. The high end of the market drives the high throughput devices that demand Thunderbolt.
