  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

To those waiting on the Scarlet...

The interesting thing though is complaining does not good. Some might think they're getting there way by doing so, but it does nothing.

We can definitely congratulate the RED TEAM, spread the word, offer any ideas or suggestions etc...

Being new to this forum I've seen a lot camaraderie, a lot of experienced individuals helping the newbies or just guys offering advice, and most of them may not know each other but there is a bond and we should use that to help with Scarlet's delivery.

this is also true. the critiquing/wishlists have gotten what people want, at least in the way of features and such haha

I think the complaints would go over better if they were presented as constructive criticism and not complaints without any ideas of how to improve the situation or just plain not constructive.

It's hard to get mad at a very polite and well worded complaint, as was said before we are all entitled to our opinions and we are all in control of weather we read them or not.

keep on filming
Peace
(then again this comment doesn't add much nor is it really constructive so perhaps I should heed my own words)

Yes and No. I'm not saying that it's going to change the Scarlet schedule AT ALL. But, it might let RED know that some people are all antsy in their pantsy and drop some more nuggets of information to keep us going. Further, I am sure for some, it is also therapeutic. They say keeping stress in is a bad thing, and it is stressful for some, as I said earlier, to know you are on the cusp of some amazing technology that can be obtained. They are more like rhetorical comments.

I'll also say that certain things can be ascertained from complainers as well. For one, no one is saying "Scarlet better come out soon or I'm just getting camera B." Because frankly, everyone knows as well as I do that camera B is depressing to say the least.

That said, every board has these posters (theoretical):

"RED IS LOST! SCARLET KILLER IS OUT NOW! ANDROID PHONE VIDEO! BYE!"

:)

What I find is a lot of people that complain here are more in the lines of frustration not only in delay of a product, but usability and value to function oriented. They also, using a word you used, show lots of camaraderie (or should we say CameraDerie) :) This is awesome. I don't even have a Red Camera yet and I feel like part of the community (although I did just order the CF reader).

The sad part is once the Scarlets get into the wild, it's going to lonely around here because everyone's going to be out shooting anything and everything. It will be like when the 5D and 7D released but better. I've got my list of shots too I need to do:

- Waterfalls in slow motion
- My girlfriend being bashful running around in a park
- Amusement rides at some random festival
- Downtown at night of drinking people
- At least 395 music videos

:)

I jest of course, but I can say this, when my Scarlet comes in, I WILL be taking a week off of work to play with it :)

Well said Rick... I feel there is something we can do in preparation (come up with a contest). Where we can show case all the scarlet footage from different parts of the country (or dare I say it World), and each chapter covers a different location and challenge (motion/dynamic range/etc).

Where the winner I dunno gets to host a show, or gets a section on the board.

Just some ideas here...

I'm sure it gets you noticed by the people at RED too, not to mention endearing yourselves to the many other REDusers.

In this business that can go a long way.:sifone:

I bet you had fun too..

Film making is hard work and long hours but we do it because we love it right?

thanks again for the NAB REDday coverage.

It was so much fun interviewing ted, so thanks Joseph for setting that up... I was forced to interview when all I wanted to do was open that black bag!

I think we were both thinking about that during the whole elevator ride to the top of the Renaissance Hotel. :)

Nice did the Z1 shoot the footage in the intro on the Vegas stretch (there is a section with a cab in it love the lighting there).

Joseph you were on camera?
Was it the 7D?

Yes I operated camera for each of the Landmine videos. For the video with the working EPIC, yes I used the 7D. I don't like the video camera side of things, and I was using it for stills when I asked Jim on the spur of the moment.

For all of the other videos, I shot on my Sony Z1U, mounted to the Steadicam PILOT.
