I want to update my GPU.
What do you think is better for transcoding speed in redcineX?
At the moment I have a r9 290 4GB with Win8.1, x99, i7 5960, 32GB Ram and 12TB Raid 0.
5k/25p playback is great with half resolution, but transcoding time is a little bit to slow for me.

Greats Jochen

The R9 295x2 was a nightmare for me. Avoid. Titan X all the way.

A dual Xeon wont speed up the transcodes. It helps with realtime playback ie realtime load or editing time. If you want transcode speed then the 8 core I7 clocked @ 4GHz or higher is the best chip out. A Dual Xeon would slow the transcode speeds down since their clock speed is to low.

Great, thank you for your answers. I will go with the Titan.

What issues did you have? I have 2x 290x that's been running okay. Did you remember to enable 64 bit memory access for opencl applications. It allows programs like resolve to use more than 3gb of video memory.

Yeah, I did that. It was totally unstable with a 4k monitor. At full resolution the screen was mostly just black and at UHD resolution it was flickering/"tearing" constantly. Resolve was also constantly crashing on the edit page, and I had to use old beta bios for my motherboard to get it to work at all and that didn't support Thunderbolt, which I needed. Eventually it just stopped working altogether and I could only get a picture with the drivers uninstalled entirely. Saphire support was beyond useless. I replaced it with a GTX970 and haven't had a problem since. I was also dealing with support from ASRock for my motherboard and they were amazing. I had direct one-on-one support from one of their US reps.
