We've edited a movie in Final Cut using the low rez proxies that Red creates with the R3D files. We have created an EDL, and the director is happy. When he takes the drive home along with the EDL, hooks it all up and fires up Final Cut Pro, he gets message that the media is missing and has to relink it. Now it would not be so bad if he could do it in one whole batch (which I have done successfully at work), but no, unfortunately that is not the case. FCP will not batch re-link the files. Its being stubborn, FCP is asking where each and every R3D file resides. Its a very painful process. My question is, is there a way to force Final Cut to see the files so that we don't have to go through them one by one to re-link them?

Thanks,

Yeah, there's a checkbox in the finder dialog when you're pointing it to your media that says "Relink all in this folder"

I'll second on the Craig's suggestion, especially when how you saved and the editor saved are different hierarchy wise on the hard disk.

Export your timeline from the FCP as XML, then use the workflow option to reconform the R3Ds with the XML, save as new XML. Then read the new XML in the FCP and they will be all relinked at that point.

Awesome! Thanks for the suggestions. I will implement this and report back. Thanks!!

I had that issue and I had to recreate all the proxies with REDalert to fix the problem. It was like it would disconnect the proxies from the R3D file when you moved to another machine.
