I picked up an older version of the the Losmandy Porta-Jib Explorer (http://www.porta-jib.com/explorer.html) a few months ago and I am trying to compare using it vs a Ronin. The Ronin offers a lot more portability and less setup time but it is pretty heavy and somewhat unstable move around between low and high angles even with a Ready Rig and Cinemilled pro-ring system. The Porta Jib is sweet but I feel that it is not as smooth as I would like as I am doing a very slow shot, about 3" per second lets say while sliding it on a flex trak and moving the crane down or up. I already put a full bag of sand on the lower portion of the jib which helped a lot but I still am experiencing some wobble.

Does anyone have any advice for using a jib like this? Also should I be looking more into giving the Ronin another chance or is a jib a better option?
