Hi all-

I just got back from a shoot in Alaska. I had my Weapon with Canon mount and a range of cine-modded Leica R's along with a Canon 70-200 2.8 and a Canon
400 F4. Tested everything at home and in the hotel and it all worked great. Once we started shooting outside (cold but not that cold, maybe 25 degrees Fahrenheit), the camera would not recognize either of the Canon lenses and in turn, I wasn't able to change the aperture. Tried powering down, powering back up several times, taking the lenses on and off with the camera powered and not powered. Nothing worked. I was able to deal with it using ND's and bumping up the shutter speed a bit but it wasn't ideal. Once I got back to the hotel, the camera recognized the lenses. Would this be an issue related to the cold? Anything else I could have done to remedy it in the field? Thanks in advance for any input.

Daniel

This happened lots on my canon 800mm. Turned out the EF mount pin was slightly worn and wouldn't click in properly every time... could be something to look at...?

Take a slightly damp rag and wipe down the terminals on the mount. Works every single time for me. Probably not advisable, but I just lick my finger and run it across the mount terminal if no slightly damp rag available. Sucks this has to be done but if I dont do it, it's rare I see a lens connection after a mount swap.
