as deanan has pointed out, 5kFF is slightly different than 16:9. ...
thus when using the default framing settings of "fit width" in redcine-x" you will inadvertently create dailies that can be perceived as being stretched vertically, ever so slightly, and are slightly letter boxed.
ALSO it is important to EXPLAIN to the DP that the 16x9 guides are what the dailies will look like, i.e. slightly cropped/center cut from what is being seen on set. but that the extra pixels are available for pan and scan in the final cut if needed...
so it is VERY IMPORTANT to CHANGE the framing settings to "FIT HEIGHT".
to do this,
1. open the export tab
2. scroll down to the "framing control" area in the export settings ( it is at the bottom)
3. select "Fit Height" from the "fit" pull down, ( it is the first thing you see in the framing control panel)
4. under the framing presets, hit the "+" box to create a new preset.
5. name it what ever will make you remember it, you will use this preset on every job for the most part if you are doing commercials.
6. hit enter
7. make sure "BIN (selected clips) is the the selected option in the EXPORT drop down.
8. take all the clips you want to transcode and highlight them (apple A is best for this on a mac)
9. move the clips to the bin
10. do another apple A to select them all in the bin.
11. go back to the export screen and double click on the framing preset you made..
continue with the process of making your dailes as you normally would, i.e select your codec, do your color grade...and push out your dailies...
happy encoding!

here is how the default framing control panel looks...
this is what a 5kFF framing control panel should look like..
Epic S35's 5K FF is 5120x2700 and is a 1.896:1 aspect ratio.
1.896: is also the ratio for the 4k/2k DCI formats:
4096x2160 = 1.896:1
2048x1080 = 1.896:1
