  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Tip hat to Peter Jackson...

Sir Peter Jackson is well known as a great movie director, also a warm hearted and open minded person.

So that's how it happened...

One of my dreams is to someday work with Sir Peter. What a great filmmaker and human being.

Kudos to RED for their many accomplishments in such a short period of time...

I'm very happy to be living and working as an up-and-coming film maker in this exciting time....I hope to find myself included in one of these inspiring chains of film makers one day!

Me too Joseph!

Sometimes I feel like a naysayer here, most famously when I argued with Jim about 4K delivery to the home.

Let me tell you how I really feel.

Red One was one of the finest cameras in the world at its introduction.

It had some laughable limitations, some details that needed more development. Its fundamental characteristics and picture quality were phenomenal - especially at the price.

The first serious camera an ordinary independent film maker could own that delivered results with little or no compromise.

That really truly changed my world and how I can think about my own projects.

So thanks to Red! Thanks to all the early adopters who showed us what could be done with these fantastic cameras, and got behind them and pushed.

And if PJ happens to read this: Herman Melville's Moby Dick; there has never been a better time for its message. Epics and New Zealand, no better place to start.
Pretty please? ( :

Yes, a big thanks to Peter! I can't wait to see the Hobbit. His behind the scenes videos (3 of them now) or blogs or whatever you want to call them have me so amped up to see it. Or maybe, it could just be that the Hobbit has been my favorite book, ever since I was old enough to read.

So why is it we can't watch the full "Crossing the Line" film? I've been wanting to do that since 2007!!!

It was downloadable for a while in 1080p ProRes format. Don't know if it's still available, probably not as it's not representative of what RED can do these days. Neat little film, though.

Really? I have only ever seen the sort clip available. Bummer!

Jim, I'm impressed. May I ask what caused Peter to be willing to invest valuable time/money in the Crossing shoot before the camera was released? As your post illustrates, that was a HUGE deal!

Was it early buzz? Or he was impressed by the features? Or you guys were friends?

At any rate, pretty amazing stuff. The "Red story" keeps getting better and better :)

Tip of the hat to Peter Jackson, for what he did here and for being one bad-ass director.

And a tip of the hat to Jim Jannard, for being one bad-ass business captain.

What do you think big companies (who make cameras for cinema) would say if they hear that the succes of Red Digital Cinema is also due to "le bouche à oreilles". :thumbup1:
They pay every year hundreds of thousand dollars for advertising and promotion ! :reddevil:

Thank you Sir Peter Jackson. :cheers2:
