If you can't do better...insult.
Usually they say those that can't do, teach and those that can't teach critique but in this case, those that can't do insult. I don't see much of an issue with pricing.
Vote with your wallets is the saying isn't it?

Don't feed the trolls means don't feed the trolls
Tom doesn't need to waste a second with this guys funny existence
The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena..
Now close thread and lets find more useful info to share or discuss

Your thread is a bit misleading I went to the site expecting to find some guy slamming Tom's work "Timelapses are rubbish because I'm a huge snob" kind of stuff especially with the current two responses but it was nothing like that.
I had a brief scan of the article and his complaint is focused around Tom's pricing... lets say strategy someone in the comments suggested that tom is raising money to finish the movie but if thats the case he should make that more clear I don't really have an opinion here but that doesn't mean he's a troll bashing the film and lacks a valid point.

Agreed. He was very sincere, in fact, when praising Tom's film making ability. His beef is with the marketing, which is a valid opinion that I don't really share. I will say that it's pretty clear from the descriptions of each package that he's raising money to finish the film - people don't generally offer a thank you in the credit roll otherwise.

The thread title blows this way out of proportion.

Although I do not agree with Tom’s marketing/fundraising campaign. I think he is a great professional and he is free to choose any way how to raise funds for his film.
IMHO I will recommend him to team up with a publicist or producer who can give him better advice and avoid those kind of scumbags hurting his reputation.

Actually I think the guy is pretty funny normally (he's one of the more fun people on Twitter), but yeah, I disagree with him on this one. Bought the Platinum edition in a heartbeat - everyone should! :)

What's funny is all the cockney slang that ended up in the comments of that blog post. Definitely the place to do screenwriting research if you want a character to sound like a whiner from the UK.

I didn't read anything that doesn't apply to 99.9% of all Kickstarter projects which do the exact same thing.

If an AP's role is to secure funding for a film--I don't see the difference between finding other people to donate it and giving it yourself. Seems like an accurate description of their contribution. What *does* always annoy me is that the associate producer credit is often above the hardworking crew that actually did the work.

Cue gigantic eye-roll. The person who gets the money to pay the people who make the film deserves that credit - now the person who gets that person their coffee getting billing over VFX & Animation...

Some people just love to complain. I mean, he's objecting, not even to how much the film costs, but that there's an OPTION to pay more to support the project and get acknowledged for it?

Kind of like complaining about how the DVDs they give you when you donate to public TV are over-priced.

I really like a lot of Tom's work, though in the interest of fairness I kinda get one or two this guy's 'thoughts' --if only they were properly presented as thoughts (instead of overly sensationalized whining in a blatant attempt to get hits on his website). Why, oh why did I click on this? I just did exactly what he wanted us to do. Aghh... maybe I should go and write an article about his business model. ;)

I consider all of this to be self evident, but here goes for those with lazed brains:
You don't have to like other people's business model to appreciate their work. And nobody is forcing you to buy anything. If you can't see beyond that, you simply aren't a customer. Cheers to you sir! Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Once more, just in case it wasn't clear enough without the offensive slang apparently required for basic comprehension: We are free to earn a living in whichever way we please, so long as we don't intrude on other people's rights. Where did he do that?

I am a narrative guy myself, mind you. I even sent Tom a PM about a year ago politely suggesting he added a narrative thread to his film. With that said:

But wait let’s watch the behind the scenes, oh yes, they’re sitting around doing nothing while the camera does the work’ ‘Awesome!’.

Hahaha... is he serious?? 'Don't mug me off man.' :)

Apologies on the title, probably could have worded it better. Does that mean I get an Associate Troll credit? ;)

This article actually made me want to order the platinum package. It's too bad the pre-orders are down.

Tom's work is phenomenal.

My thoughts exactly. I will be getting the platinum version. Go Tom Go!!! :)
