  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Timecode sync

So far Tentacle has been the easiest for me.
And I'm dealing with older tech.

I have a XLR box device for my Dragon, can I just connect it to an XLR microphone and record sound right on the video track? Is the quality good?

Does anyone have familiarity with using ambient lockit boxes with Epic MX or similar. The tentacle syncs are still out of stock and priced pretty high on ebay.

Its pretty straight forward but you need the right cable.
Ive seen it used on set a few times and 1st AC never has issues.
I myself (personal) use the original single Tentacle and it works when it works.
Just like the ambient, you need to check a few times a day for drifts.

Thanks. I think I might just pull the trigger on the tentacle mk2 adorama has some in stock. What recorder do you use?

I have 4 Tenticles but you can get away with one. 2 is ideal though.

Its true you can but the last shoot I lost sync and now I wish I had two Tentacles.
I have the original one from crowdfunding, I wonder if it syncs with the new ones?

The originals work fine with the new ones.

I have 3x Atomos Ultrasyncs that I love. Small, lightweight, 20 hour battery life, and a screen onboard so I don’t have to mess with connecting an app. They have a nice mini-din to red timecode cable. I use these in conjunction with a mix-pre 3 II using a mini-din to lanc cable.
