Timecode not syncing!!!!

Tried to Jam-sync the Denecke TS-C slate and the RED with a Denecke SB-T timecode generator...

The timecode in the RED and the slate doesn't sync...it seems to drift 1 or 2 frames off...i've only played back and paused in camera to check..

Gonna try to match it in REDCine or FCP now..

anybody got similar problems????

Please excuse my ignorance of sound in general, but how big a deal is audio that is 2 frames off? Could the average viewer even notice such a thing?

Typically, one frame is considered the limit of detectability by the 'average' person. Two frames is fairly obvious to most that watch. It is much more noticeable if the audio leads the video as this is a non causal condition and violates the perception of the real world much easier than if the audio lags the video (which happens over any real distance).

Its very important, your picture will never pass QC and will be sent back to you until you fix the sync

We had the same issue with a camera the other day, but it was drifting 1 to 2 seconds. I asked Evin Grant about it at NAB to see if he had any of the same experience with sound. In his travels, he said the timecode display is always off, but the timecode on the file itself is usually right on. When I used an F900 recently though, the drift was even worse.
