I think this might be a build 15 issue, might go away soon. But i want to bring it up incase it makes it into newer builds. Having said that, this might help anyone in a current production. By the way I've also sent an email to my good friends at Red.

<<a little back story: we call mis-rolls/accidental button on's 'T' takes. Our TC is based on TOD and is rejammed every time we change a battery>>

I got a call from editorial today to come look at an issue they were having. Some of the timecodes weren't sequential. (I've included stills of the avid bin sorted by file name and then one sorted by TC). According to TC they shold be ordered C014,C016,C017,C015; where C014-16 are all 'T' takes.

We looked at a few other days and it similar issues all within close proximity to 'T' takes. We have also noticed in some instances the TC overlaps a bit (7 frames or so)

My assertion is that the 'T' takes aren't actually caused by a physical button on/off but rather some intermittent bug. Some days this hasn't happened at all.

I wanted to see if anyone has noticed this issue at all and also as a heads up. Their concern is for possible conform issues this might cause later.

That's very interesting, and not something I've been looking for when we get RED media in. I'm conforming from whole clips, TC is secondary. Will keep an eye out for anything similar on other projects originated on RED tho. Anyone care to disclose a little bit more about build 16's implications not only for this possible bug, but if RedLine/Alert/Cine/Code will need to be updated... Ryan I'll EM you off board if I see similar traits... Tony :-)

Conform should be OK since you are using the full file name as a tape ID which keeps it unique. There would be issues if you were only using the first 4 characters... which has always worried me as not being unique enough as an identifier. Were these all shot on a single camera or two cameras?
