Granted the EVF's are needed. In fact i just sold my EVF with ET mount for $4200. So basically i got full price. I would feel like a thief if i were to sell it for more....and believe in carma also.....when this guy needs something....the day will come that he'll get pulled over a barrel.

Has anyone played around with Bomb EVF particulary in comparison to the current EVF? How sexy is it?

Well maybe he wasn't very tactful - but surely this is just pure capitalism? Price being driven by market demand and supply? The price is whatever the market is willing and able to pay...

Not that I think unfettered capitalism is at all a good thing - quite the opposite! :)

I agree with you, but BajaProductions suggested a better workflow. :)

My favorite thing about my EVF is the ability to set audio levels on the fly. I've seen the Bomb EVF in person a couple of times, but never paid attention as to whether or not it has a dial or extra buttons...

Can anyone confirm or deny that functionality on the Bomb EVF?

Will the Bomb EVF replace the current? or will they sell concurrently? It's been back-ordered many moons, yes?

My understanding is that the current EVF has been discontinued permanently. They were having trouble with their suppliers.

It was slated to be replaced by the Bomb EVF. Apparently the old suppliers were not involved with the new EVF.

On 06/16/10, I asked Jim if he felt that the Scarlet manufacturing delay could in any way rub off on the release of the Bomb EVF.

His answer was this:

Of course, a year has 525,600 minutes in it.

Thank you Peter and Michael...

I personally field tested a prototype Bomb EVF in early March on one of my Red One cameras for our 7-Red camera HDTV and Blu Ray production of the classic rock band Heart in concert (in Seattle).

Having used one of the original Red EVFs extensively since December 2007, I was anxious to use the Bomb EVF. My impressions after using the Bomb? I remember being very stoked with its small size, light weight, and optical crispness. Since my shooting that night was shoulder held non-stop for two straight hours, it was great to have the lightweight and small profile Bomb on board the rig!

Because I shoot a wide variety of genres and styles I regularly use both an EVF and an LCD. The original Red EVF is an excellent piece of kit - but the Bomb is way better in many ways. I can't foresee anyone being disappointed with the Bomb EVF.

Bottom line: IMO its a great addition to any Red camera kit, whether it be Red One, Epic, or Scarlet.

Gibby,
Did it have any user programable buttons? Was it able to have the EVF menu engaged on left side, including control for setting audio levels?

Thanks in advance, for the info.

It was a prototype, and as I remember, yes it had some function buttons. But at that point in time on that prototype, most of the functions weren't activated - so it couldn't yet fully "talk" electronically with Red One. Nevertheless it was optically very excellent and a pleasure to use. It rocked - no pun intended :)
