Filter test with various Tiffen filters- Black Pro Mist, Pro Mist, Ultra Contrast, at varying exposures in various lighting environments.

There are 3 videos separated by 2 seconds of black. The last video is labeled per filter but not exposure. It starts at 0, then flashes to +1 EV, +2 EV etc.

Shot on a RED Scarlet in 5k, transcoded in Pro Res, only color balanced footage, no additional work performed). Shot in Red Gamma 3/ Red Color 3, with -0.2 shadow crush, otherwise no picture style modifications.

Why so strong? BPM is often used at 1/8 or 1/4. To start at 1/2 and then to a 3 seems very stylized, and may give you the wrong idea of how its used. Same for PM. 1/2 is already a lot. For example "Hitchcock" shot on 1/2 White Frost (same as PM, just Schneider's version), and they did so knowing it was strong. 1/4 is a reasonable choice too.

I have the BPM in 1/4 and 1/2, which seems to be about right for me. a DP recently used the 1/2 on a film, that got me interested in the series. After seeing the footage I got it and the 1/4. I was trying to track down the PM 1/4 or 1/2 and could only find the 1/2 in time for a shoot. I am liking it with 1/2 to 1 stop over exposure. I got it for a romantic dream sequence for a music video. I got the BPM 3 on ebay super cheap, I was like why not. Its $20 bucks. Combined with over exposure I like the BPM 3, I would of liked to use it for the dream sequence if I had the light. Its light and airy once you get through about a 1 stop filter factor for the sucker! The UC was another ebay super cheap find, I think $10 bucks. Kinof reminds me of Cinestyle for SLRs, lower contrast but doesnt do that much better. I am really liking the BPM 1/2 with about 1/2 of over exposure. it seems to do a better job at lower contrast while not affecting other things than the UC.
