So I bought a Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 adapter for my Red Station but for some weird reason it doesn't show up on the computer.

Red Station pops up fine straight into the computers FireWire 800 just not through the ThunderBolt adapter.

The computer shows the Thunderbolt working and it actually reads the adapter cable is there.

Other firewire 800 drives don't work either.

I tried connected to Power Supply and just from the Bus.

Its either the thunder bolt cable or the macbook I guess... Going to apple store tomorrow.

The adapter is not providing correct power.
Gtechs Mini Drives don't power over the TB adapter to fw 800 as well without external power.
This could be the same for other drives but I have not tested with OWC or Maxx Digital yet.

I've gotten my G-Tech Mini FW800 to work alright. Even had to daisy-chain 2 in one instance and it worked out okay.

Edited to say: This is with my 15" Retina MBP.

Went to Apple. They told me I needed to update my operating system to Mountain Lion. So I did for 20 bucks and Bam it magically works...

I am on Mountain Lion, 10.8.2 and the USB 3 Red SSD Reader shows power with Red Led on, but does not show up... ?!?

Neither does my Maxx Digital Edit Vault from FW800 to Thunderbolt adapter... But it does work via USB, so I guess I need to take the FW to Thunderbolt adapt. back to Apple.

Edit: After so much screwing around, I found out that is the RED FW cable that is not connecting, all other FW cable to Thunderbolt adapters work, so it was a FW damaged cable the issue here as well.

But There is simply no way to get the USB 3 SSD Reader to show up, shows RED Led on, with either the FW to Thunderbolt adaptor, or USB 3 but no go... :(

I've heard bad rumors about the USB 3.0 Mini Readers, that they don't mount on a Mac? I guess this is true? I was pretty skeptical about them at the time since I din't own a USB 3.0 Compatible Mac, a DIT friend of mine told me they're useless. Another friend got one and his complain was that there's no USB mini on the eSATA version which believe it or not it comes in handy pretty often. So I stick to the OG reader they're great. Can't wait to get the 2.5'' version for back-ups and BMC/Pixie240.

Hopefully its a software plug-in issues?

Anyway we can get a V2 of the OG version eSATA 6Gb-USB 3.0(MAC Mountable)-FW800(Or Replace with Tbolt?).

Never been a fan of FW800 but thats all we had from 2007-2012

I've used the mini USB 3 Redstation a few times with no problems on a Mac Pro with a Caldigit FASTA-6GU3 card. My only complaint was that the mags take a few seconds longer to mount than they do with eSATA. This was on OS X 10.8.2.
BTW, there would be no benefit to SATA III (6Gbit) yet, because the mags themselves max out around 230MBps.

This is the first time I have heard of it, any ways for me it could also be a cable issue, as it was in fact a cable issue with the FW, any ways have an other on the way from RED, we'll report later.

For my workflow on set I can't deal with eSata, I need Thunderbolt and USB 3, so I sure hope all will be fine.
