Three Reds on ebay

NAB 2006 is when the scam began and thank god for it...

so here is the update on the camera for sale in the second link. turns out it is serial number 0281 according to the seller and when i asked him to send me a picture of the serial number he sent me this...picture...dont know how he got that picture, but red tells me that the real 0281 was in for an mx upgrade....

who owns 281 and are they selling it for 4k?

0281 seems to be the favourite number for scammers. A while ago that one was on offer on Craigslist. http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=16247 and before that again on eBay. Also in 2009 it was on eBay: http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=24121 and on and on and on. For a list, see here: http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Areduser.net+ebay+281&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

That pic show evidence of Photoshop work around the numbers.
Nah, that's just jpeg compression artifacts. They are around all the letters, not just the serial number.

EDIT: P.S. Here's the original (?) sales ad from very early 2008: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?p=143015

Appears a Gerry Curtis was the original owner and sold it to a rental house:

It´s really good and important to stop these scammers by reporting them to ebay!

It´s easy to start thinking along the lines of "if someone is that stupid, they bring it on themselves", but there could be a well meaning father/relative out there, responding to a family members endless talk about the dream camera, who without any ebay experience stumbles on to one of those ads. (EDIT: One of those "too good to be true $4000 ads) it´s a lot of money, and a real shame if someone gets scammed. Great work reporting it to ebay!

Eirik hopefully is not trying to report MY Ebay listing, do not feed the trolls, the below auction is a REAL camera, if you are interested in the camera system to purchase, please send me a PM with your name and number and we can setup a time to meet. I am showing the camera system to multiple people over the course of this week.

your auction is real, did u see the others...4000 usd for a red...there was a case where a dad bought his son without knowing it a stolen red for cheap from ebay.

Sorry if i was unclear, talking about the 2nd listing, the one claiming to sell for US$4000, and listing for the 4th or 5th time in 2 years serial #0281, which was sold early on by a reduser member to a rental company.

I am not advocating a witch hunt for people selling REDs on ebay, but I think it´s really good that redusers care to report obvious scams ($4000$ to be sold off list) on ebay, it´s so easy to not bother.

Best of luck with your sale, hope you get a good price!
