  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I've noticed a thread entitled by "So..." (DSMC general) was deleted. Is it possible to know why?
 
Yeah I was looking for that actually. I was just curious if I had missed any announcements. Did it go off course and get out hand somehow?
 
no idea.. me had posted there btw.. lol
 
It's true that Red has made some great announcements lately. That colour science stuff is fantastic.

But we're all getting impatient for Scarlet. I just want to give Red my money!!!!

Any day now I'm sure.
 
If I had to guess why it was deleted, it's because it was a totally pointless thread with the last several posts having nothing but foul language. The Google cache isn't showing the last couple posts that only degenerated further. This thread right here already serves a higher purpose than the other thread being discussed.

And to sum up the answer to the OP's question in that other thread. There is no official release date or new info at this time. As soon as Jim is ready to share more information, he will.

well actually there's a new info by Jarred stating
that they are still targeting the end of Summer
release with Epic...He answered this question
like 3 weeks ago...and that would be enough
info to console some people...

I do not agree with the other thread being pointless...
and there's no need to delete a thread unless there
was any offensive language...

within the limits of respect to Red and its people
I believe it's relevant to ask for some info, which is
vital to some of us...

I don't work at RED and nobody asked, but it seems to me this sort of thing is probably exactly why the policy regarding "official announcements" is changing: some people take an estimate that is clearly intended as "our best 'broad strokes' guess, based on what we know right now" and explicitly marked as "subject to change, count on it" and (human nature being what it is) invariably poke at the chicken entrails and examine the color of the smoke coming out of RED's chimney to work their way back to some EXACT DATE CERTAIN that their favorite render will at last be made flesh.

Some rejoice at the apparent "discovery," others argue over the timing of the blessed event, while another group hikes up its hoop-skirts and sniffs "Frankly, Scarlet, I don't give a damn, I'm sick of these RED people not living up to the promises I'm inferring, against all reason, that they've made, and I'm buying a NikoPanaSoniCanon."

This thread already has a lot more useful info in it. No questions were answered in that other thread.

The thread was deleted (not by me, one of the other moderators) because it was full of offensive language. Several members were insulting one another. The thread had indeed lost its way and had become entirely pointless and offensive. Better to just start over.

It's not very often that threads actually get deleted around here. And when they are deleted, it's usually with good reason. I can assure you that thread needed to go away.
