I've always been one of the guy's who's wanted a Red One, and I'm thinking that I may wish I did after the next announcement.

As far as what Red One owners will be entitled to -- I know there are some un-knowns, but can anyone tell me a summary of what is already known?

17500 is more than I should spend on a camera right now, but I'd like to invest in the future of RED. With that said, as a documentary filmmaker (although I am making a narrative short right now), maybe a Scarlet will be more than enough for me.

Any insight on the value of owning a RED One at this point would be helpful. Thanks

Welcome to Red User Steven!

In a nutshell, owning a Red One gives you:

1. Full credit ($17,500) towards an Epic. Just hand your Red One in and get every dollar you spent on the body towards the new one. Try that with Sony sometime and see how you go!
2. Access to Epic X, a special bundle only available to Red One owners
3. First delivery of Epics will be to Red One owners
4. Experience on an amazing camera in advance of the Epic
5. Be part of an semi-exclusive club of cool Red fanatics
6. A better excuse to tell your wife why you are on Red User 6 hours a day when you don't even own a camera! That's pretty much the only reason I bought a Red One.
7. Other stuff I don't remember or hasn't been announced, but those are the main ones I think.

Basically, if you're destiny is Epic, there are absolutely no reasons not to own a Red One, it's a no-brainer.

If your destiny is Scarlet, then in many ways you may be better off renting a Red One when you need it, and invest once in Scarlet.

Jim you are a funny guy :smilielol5:

Steven- Stay tuned to Jim Jannard's announcement on 30 October when all your options will become known. Scarlet (or a light version thereof) is anticipated to come in around $4k--breathtaking.
