My 7" LCD is on backorder so I would like to have an temporary substitute. I don't have EVF either.

1) Is it possible to use third party LCD with RED camera, and be able to power it up with RED One and be able to see all the menus?

2) Could I use HD-SDI monitor? Will I be able to see menus including histogram?

3) Is there a adapter for RED monitor/evf monitor that would work with other monitors?

4) Is there a way to power up HDMI monitor with RED camera?

5) Any other ideas?

Thanks
Radim

Red can't power anything other than by Dtap cables.
Monitor must be 1280x848 to see the menus. Otherwise they get cut off.
HD-SDI works but you probably won't find one with that resolution.

Be warned, the Carrion monitor is off the reservation, with many customers having heard nothing and no refunds for 6 six months.

Thanks for the replies, if I hear it correctly than:

1) NO
2) NO, HD-SDI doesn't support 1280x848
3) ??? Adapter? Anyone heard of anything?
4) NO

So it seems that the only way to do it with third party monitors is to use HDMI and power it up on its own. There are not many HDMI monitors designed for camera use unfortunately.

Correct. HDSDI does not do menus. The only way to see the menus (excluding the RED monitoring options) is via DVI / HDMI.

There are no adapters to go from the EVF / LCD lemo to another monitor, nor would you want to. That signal is optimized for the red gear and has very specific pin layouts.
