  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Third Anniversary...

It all started for me in Dec 2005 with "HVX200? Pah! I want one of these! (RED HD CAMERA)" thread,
which Steve Shovlar posted 12-06-2005 on DVXuser. http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=39951

"I can't believe the fellow at HDforIndies.com bought into this so hard. Looks very fake, or like something I'd do if I wanted to April Fool my friends...."

I owe Mike big time for "buying into" the scam. It was his blog posts describing his excitement about the camera (in his trademark quirky way) that got me hooked. I started saving every penny for the next 2 years....
When Graeme was added to the team I was sold. Best decision I ever made....

Congrats RED!

Cheers!!!
Just want to thank you guys for the RED ONE. Booked mine when it was still a concept. Like hell! It was the best investment till date. Proud to be a part of the revolution.

Congratulations RED TEAM.

(By the way it did take me four shots of Jack Daniels to hit the order button.)

If I remember correctly, Jim was much inspired by the alternative imagine section of dvinfo.net. So many of those around the early RED days evolved from there.

That was a real ride from seeing use Lego style camera buildes grew up into products like the Drake, SI-1920, RED, etc.

Clearly RED is the most advanced, most successful here. Beside the ambitous team they had a the very best starting point. And we all are happy they did it :)

Happy seasons time everyone!

Cheers, and I have a drink for the years to come!

Congratulations, with much more to come.

I've noticed that I've had this smile on my face for the past 3 years, just can't seem to get rid of it :-) (There it is again)

Thanks to everyone all over the planet that had faith in us from the first moment they learned about RED and wanted it to happen... and also thanks to all of those that were skeptical, but willing to have an open mind, and have now shot with RED and understand why we made this camera.

There are so many projects created with this camera in it's young life that it's hard to really grasp the impact it's had. There are a number of major theatrical releases that will be hitting soon, the first in just a few weeks, and an ever growing crop of TV shows, commercials and music videos that keeps telling us we are doing the right things. And we are just getting started.... (Oh man there's that smile again...)

My very best to everyone that has been a part of this world for the past 3 years... just imagine what the next 3 are going to be like.

Happy Holidays to all of you!

+ Ted

Ted,
Im sure I speak for reduser community in saying "You post to seldom on here"

Keep smiling :)

You are absolutely correct. I spend my time focused on the world outside of the online forum, that's what I love doing and am best at. I pretty much do that non-stop. I leave the forums to those at RED that love doing that style of communication. In this way we cover both parts of the reach-out - all good. I like to communicate with those that aren't so deep into the RED world day to day, to educate and give them some sense of why the RED world is so fascinating and exciting. And Don't get me wrong, I fully appreciate the value of the forum, and the constant kicking around of information and ideas - I just don't post much, but I read and listen quite a bit... just my style. Part of the success at RED is that everyone finds their "sweet spot" and runs with it with passion and heart.

You guys certainly kicked ass and took names this year! Your brilliance has changed the lives of many of us and sent our careers in new directions.

I hope you have some serious time off over the holidays to relax and be with your loved ones.

I also hope there are some big fat bonus checks for you all. I have never dealt with any company with more dedicated employees than Red.

Happy Anniversary to all!
Thank you Jim for thinking outside the box!

Merry Christmas guys looking forward to the new year.

I'm with you on that Curran. Mike, if you're reading this, thankyou for inspiring a film school student to put down his hard earned money on one, then two, then three Reds :)

Now I'm in Japan, the cameras have more than earned themselves back and I'm getting ready to do a whole bunch of productions of my own in 2009 after mostly renting the cameras to others this year, having been the pioneer with the first Red in the country!

If you ever visit Japan, the sake's on me!! :)

And for the whole Red team, thanks for the ride so far; I can't wait to take it all over again with Epic X in 2009!!!

Cheers all!

Paul

Happy 3 years. I started my filmmaking studies about 3.5 years ago and I have come a long way since then, now I see only one way to continue. Take the red path. Can't wait till 2009.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. One for each year.
