  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Third Anniversary...

I don't recap the timeline exactly because I never created an account until recently, but I remember the first bread box and how it thrilled me.

I just want to say thank you to you guys for making my dreams (literally) come true and making them affordable.

Amen to that Jim.

The camera is wonderful and will last for years. But the relationships, and the friendships I have made with Jarred, Jim, Thor, Steve, Anthony, Erik, David (Both of them) and the list goes on and on... Well, those will last a lifetime, and they are priceless.

Thanks for opening the door for me Jim.. Hope I can stay a while.

Jay

What a ride!
Happy holidays everyone!

I remember when I first found out about RED, I couldn't believe it, but my first reaction was "oh, wow... when/where/how much?!" and then some of my friends said they were skeptical. I though that was ridiculous. I never thought "if." Thanks for dreaming big, Jim & Co!
ll!

i did have a few ifs, then i clicked the mouse and then i thought ohp, wait never mind. the like 3 things i was skeptical about i no longer am. 'tis why i am a guaranteed customer.

Congratulations on your 3rd anniversary !!
I look forward to celebrating many more!

Turning the professional camera industry on it's ear is no small task....so thank you for enduring all of the obstacles and pushing ahead to provide us with this revolutionary product line of cameras!!!

Happy Holidays to the Red team & the Red users!!

Dave

Happy Anniversary RED and co-conspirators. I remember having the thought of how amazing it would be to get my DSLR images in successive frames (24fps). You did that and so so so so so so so much more and now you have this line of Scarlets and Epics. I hadn't been a member two years ago but have been haunting your foot steps watching your every move, from across the pond (through the magic mirror some call the internet). Scarlet was my dream cam (RED One always out of reach to buy) from the beginning and now that has turned into my dream cam with two hundred vestal virgins thrown in for free.

You guys really...words escape...filling up...tears rolling...que quivering chin...audience: aaaarrrrhhhhh!!!!

What a ride...love and respect to the crazy crew...happy 3rd r3d :-)
...and may there be many others...

To All The Red Team

To All The Red Team

To Jim, Ted, Matt, Graeme, Jarred, Brian, Kelly, Bent, Deanan, Rob and all the Team at the Red Digital Cinema Camera Company, Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays.

The Logo looked great on the Surf Board, then on the first cameras, and it’s about to look great on the Second Generation of the Red Camera System, all completely Modular! By early 2010 the camera and all its accessories will be the envy of all.

Camera companies will have to think of a new paradigm, a new business model, not about planned obsolescence, but about serving all the people of an important industry. Eventually there will be an Oscar and many other accolades, but first to complete the work that lays ahead.

It’s hard to think that I’ve been reading about your Company for the last two and half years, and it was this year when I registered On-Line. It really has been a very short ride, compare to Mitchell who I really compare your Company too. Not Sony, Panasonic, or any of Japanese Giants. Your Company will be a giant again in the same way that Mitchell was in the old days of Hollywood.

In the Good Old Days Pictures were shot on film, edited, optical effects created, and printed for distribution from an inter-negative. Always the generations was the same question, how many generations from the original did we have to go before the final print. TODAY, it all goes to digital whether shot on film, video, digital cinema, they are edited on FCP, Avid, or Premier, and some other computer based editing systems.

When I attended the USC Cinema School, back in the early 70 all the Professors were from the old school, they came to school in Hawaiian shirts, and open collar shirts; we even had Wolfie, he was in the German Army during the Second War. That was when a movie was called a “PICTURE”. Now I think the school is called the USC Cinema & Television School. What will it be called in the future, only God knows.

Then the world began to change slowly from calling it a Picture to a Film or Cinema. It’s a logical progression that we go from capturing images on film, to a digital camera, but first someone had to step up to the plate and say; “I’m going to do it!” That someone has been the “Red Camera Team!” Thank you, again Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays!

The tools have changed, but we still call it a Movie, or Moving Pictures!

It all started for me in Dec 2005 with "HVX200? Pah! I want one of these! (RED HD CAMERA)" thread,
which Steve Shovlar posted 12-06-2005 on DVXuser. http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=39951

I was uh oh what the hell is going on!?! That opened doors to series of neverending spins of crazy imaginations and its growing and growing.
Jim and team shrinked huge amount of time into only 3 years. Wow.

Have some fun with reading this and happy holidays to all.

Petr

... and then Jarred somehow infiltrated RED and we got this nice forum ... :shiftyph34r:

I remember checking out dvinfo.net in December 2005 when I came across this post, by Jim Jannard - selfentitled madman!

Link to the post "Hello from Jim Jannard" dated december 17th 2005
http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/red-digital-cinema/56300-hello-jim-jannard.html

This sparked an exciting journey for me as a RED costumer and user.

Happy anniversary and happy holidays!

I've noticed that I've had this smile on my face for the past 3 years, just can't seem to get rid of it :-) (There it is again)

Thanks to everyone all over the planet that had faith in us from the first moment they learned about RED and wanted it to happen... and also thanks to all of those that were skeptical, but willing to have an open mind, and have now shot with RED and understand why we made this camera.

There are so many projects created with this camera in it's young life that it's hard to really grasp the impact it's had. There are a number of major theatrical releases that will be hitting soon, the first in just a few weeks, and an ever growing crop of TV shows, commercials and music videos that keeps telling us we are doing the right things. And we are just getting started.... (Oh man there's that smile again...)

My very best to everyone that has been a part of this world for the past 3 years... just imagine what the next 3 are going to be like.

Happy Holidays to all of you!

+ Ted

Congrats, I remember the first post on DVXuser... I remember the first NAB booth, I remember the party at Sundance. I remember the people that told me I was crazy for putting a deposit on a two RED Ones. What a hell of a ride....
Thank you Jim and the RED team here is to next year.
