Thinking of renting #791 and #1256; what are reasonable rates?

Hi all. . .

Now that my first feature is completed (whew!), I'm thinking of renting my two REDs during the "off season" to raise some cash. I'd like to get some information on what reasonable rental rates ought to be for these pups.

I'd just be renting the cameras and a few extras, one with just an LCD and the other with both an LCD and the EVF. Both have Nikon mounts and I have a large collection of great Nikon lenses. I also have several batteries, etc., and the Actioncam RED edition, as well.

I was thinking about $750 per day for each camera, but is that too high? I'd like to get some business here.

Thanks much for any insights.

Stephen

$750 sounds like the right price, but other factors may influence it and usually towards the lower side. I would say go for $750 and do not go lower than $600.
Price also the accessories like LCD, EVF and the media and set an introduction" price to the market, a "first time director" price, a returned-customer price so from them you can go up to your normal price.
There is a whole "bible" written around the art of pricing.

yes.. and you ebay terror knows it more than anyone else right david?

So, to clarify, you are saying I should be trying to hit $750 a day, including the accessories and lenses?

Thanks.

I think it depends on your market, but in L.A. $750 for a RED body with accessories is a good deal, probably should be $850.
LCD, & EVF - bottom & top rails, certain amount of CF cards (varies) at least 4 batteries and 2 chargers. Stripped down RED body for a back-up I have been quoted $600. Three day week.

But then again I have been quoted $200 for just an EVF in L.A.

NOT inlcuding lenses, matte boxes, follow focus or tripod and head. Charge extra for Red Drives because they are scarce. I was charged $50 a day each for RED Drives for a recent multi camera shoot.
