Just announcing that we're currently shooting a danish feature film called "The Woman Who Dreamt of a Man". We've already shot in Paris and we're currently in Warsaw shooting this and next week and will be finishing up late July.

We are - of course - shooting on RED, Build 17 using Master Primes and the 24-290 Optimo.

The film is directed by Per Fly: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0283377/

DOP is Harald Gunnar Paalgard: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0654953/

My position on this film is as 2nd AC, DIT and Video Assist.

Here's the official synopsis:

The young and beautiful ”K” is haunted by a dream about a strange man. On a business trip, as a fashion photographer, she meets the man from her dreams.
Her otherwise perfect life, with her beloved Johan, their daughter and her successful job, now is in danger, because of a mystical love between two strangers.

The love becomes an obsession, and when the dreams interfere with reality their romance has fatal consequences for their future.

Expected release: January 2010

I'll ask if it's okay to post some stills from the production, but don't get your hopes up

I'll tell Anders you said that, Fredrik ;-)))

The trailer just got released: http://front.xstream.dk/politiken/mediamaker_player_version_3.php?id=23966&autoplay=1&ref=politiken

And here's the first poster (not sure if this is going to be the actual poster):

Lighting is a poor in dark scenes and because of RED latitude not even Master Primes would help.

A simple massage to DP, director and producer: Next time bring it light.

Absolutely sublime!

I think the lighting works wonderfully! One of the most cinematic things I've seen shot on Red in a long time.

Edit : Zentropa just output classic after classic. Is there anywhere I'll be able to catch this in the UK?

Probably I'm a blind man...:coolgleamA:

Poster from Blowup by Michelangelo Antonioni 1966.

Also could be a fake in some parts from Antonioni's "Blow Up" where in DK movie the main roles are a little bit

changed and with it they try to be somehow "contemporary"

but on the contrary that's mostly obsolete and boring...looks as a zombie sort of storytelling...

Btw, the Ancient Greek Mythology was always my favorite literature where all that was written many thousands years ago.

The poster certainly works for me, though I am not sure whether I like or dislike the discrepancy between the title and the photo. Might be conceived as a soft porn...

Liked the lighting, and have to disagree with Sanjin here.

At 0:47 when the woman walks in front of those lights, there are some weird artifacts around her nose. Do you know how that happened - does look like it happened in-camera.

Sanjin your making hella assumptions off a trailer buddy. There's no need to tear into someones work, and my opinion is just that, an opinion. Less hate, more info on where someone in the UK could see this.

I really like the poster :D.

But it might clash slightly with the title. It does sort of give the idea that absent the word 'man' in the synopsis, she's going to fall in love with a mysterious woman. Hmmm...rewrite?! Hahaha.

EDIT: Mr. Weiss got there first.

Sorry no any hate here,

it's just an opinion on a sort of mainstream moviemaking today when a young director (man or woman that doesn't matter)

wants to pay attention to his/her work then he or she are choosing those themas that involve homosexuality or lesbians...

I saw a lot of that stuff when it was a sort of avant-garde (60s) but for today it has meaning of a commercial work.

Even today's hardcore porn with Brazilian girls could be more real than this...terribly sorry for the comparison.

Have you seen the original footage? No - I have. You're assuming something off of a heavily compressed online version, Sanjin. Check out the DP's resumé on IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0654953/.

Btw - we did shoot with Master Primes.

Tony,

probably you are right because when you blow any picture on a big screen then it gets a full quality with accurate gamma...

I'll try to get the kind people at Zentropa to post something less compressed. All of the low-light scenes were rated at 200 ASA so there should be enough details in the shadows to pull out of most problems in terms of noise.

Btw - the story line has nothing to do with the other film you posted the poster for, Sanjin.

Martin mentioned the funny "artifacts" at around 0:47, but those were intended actually. The DP did some rather interesting stuff to get that look; in the same context - check out the bokeh in the shot of the man just before... Very skilled guy - I learned a lot :-)

I was checking out the DP's reel before. Looks absolutely insane. Props to the guy!
