Hey Redusers,
I am finally getting around to launching my cinematography podcast that I have been trying to get going for a while. The response from everyone in the industry that I have reached out to has been fantastic.
There are tons of great resources out there for people looking for more info on film gear, best practices, and lots and lots of stuff on the basics but I wanted to do something a bit different.
The ASC has an awesome podcast line up but the guys at the top are well documented and pretty well covered in the magazine. I wanted to explore the level of cinematography I personally am trying to crack and that is the high level commercial and music video markets. yes I'd love to do features but the truth is I am really pushing to get commercial work done this year. The past 12 months have been really great for me and I've got lots of stuff to share so hopefully it all works out.
Anyway, I wanted to get more info from guys at the top of the commercial game so I decided if I was going to do the hard work and contact these guys and get them to answer questions that could help my career I might as well record the process and make it available for the entire cinematography community. So that is exactly what I have done. I just started contacting people who's work I was drawn to and asked for advice on everything from shooting technique to career advice. I hope this thing can keep growing.
So far I have recorded about a half a dozen episodes and hopefully I will be able to do one a week starting October 1st. I have even contacted some of Redusers very own and I will probably be contacting even more in the near future.
After beta releasing a few of the episodes to friends and followers online I wanted to open it up a bit more and get some feedback from the communities this thing is aimed at before launching on Itunes and Stitcher.
The first three episodes of the podcast are now available for download on the site:
The first episode is just an introductory episode where I go over format and what you can expect from the show.
Episode One
The second episode features cinematographer Max Goldman.
Episode Two
We break down Max's latest work for the brand Carhartt. I really dig this commercial.

And the third episode is part one of a two part series with Belgian cinematographer Bjorn Charpentier.
Episode Three
Bjorn is definitely a guy who produces great work and he was very generous with his time and knowledge.
In his episode we talk about the Samsonite commercials he Dped.

I haven't actually finished making the PDF pretty for Bjorn's podcast but you can still sign up and I will email it to you when it is done. Should be done tomorrow some time.
The list of cinematographers who are set or who I've already interviewed continues to grow but if you have anyone you'd like to see on the show please email me at wanderingdp @ gmail.
Cinematographers who I have either contacted or am looking to feature in future shows:
Chayse Irvin
Steve Annis
Evan Prosofsky
Ed David
Stefan Duscio
Matthiaas Koenigswieser
Jeremy Rouse
Benjamin Loeb
I am just trying to get the recording and the style of the podcast sorted so any feedback would be great. Obviously things should get better as I go. Please don't mind the website as I am still cleaning things up and testing things out before the launch. I am going to axe the Leica stuff for now.
Thanks for the support.
