  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

10 months ago, I put in an accessories order with my Scarlet-W thinking they would get shipped when the camera got shipped. They got shipped immediately, which became disconcerting when I realized these items would be completely out of warranty before I even got the camera that I ordered them with. I'm now being told by my rep that RED won't take them back, despite having sat on my shelf waiting for the Scarlet-W.

I'm not thrilled that I have a pair of RED bricks that have been sitting around aging for a year, but I've accepted that's the situation. The only think I'm trying to return is the 120GB mini-mag because I'm moving up to the Epic-W and wanting to replace it with a 240 or 512 depending on the data rate of the Epic-W. It seems like if someone ordered items with their camera, they should be allowed to swap them for the items that will work with the camera they are finally getting.

If I'm crazy please let me know, but this seems like an oddity all things considered.

I understand RED not taking them back but if they are still unused it would be kinda cool if they allowed the warranty to sort of "reset" with your new camera.

I recently asked my Rep about this and she said that they could not do that. I'm confident they'll work but its unfortunate since my base expander and 4.7inch have been sitting in their packaging since February or march.

Man, that's a bummer. I suppose they don't really have any way of knowing if you've actually been using them. I bought some used Mini Mags a long time ago in anticipation of my Scarlet-W and I've used them on shoots that were renting REDs. So the same could be done with displays, expanders, etc.

Right, I've been using my mini-mags and reader so much that the paint is starting to wear off haha, so I wouldn't want to reset the warranty on that stuff. She did say that if I had any issues with them upon getting my camera to let them know, so if they don't work off the bat then you're probably not screwed at all.

Speaking of the mini mag reader, I wonder if RED will be releasing their new one next week! I dig that one, I like packing my stuff as small as possible, so I'll probably pick on up for my kit and keep the big one on my desk.
 
So, we've got a Scarlet-W ordered (from around Feb last year) and and Epic MX. Anyone know if there's any advantage to going with the Epic MX trade in over the Scarlet-W upgrade? Specifically in terms of time to get the camera? I'd rather go with the Scarlet-W upgrade and keep both, but if there's a risk to that, I'd trade in the camera for sure.

I was wondering the same. I guess we'll find out on the 11th. The main advantage of sticking with the Scarlet W upgrade is getting priority. One advantage of a trade in (in my opinion) is it may be easier than selling your old camera.

You are in great shape, Steve. You can send in your EPIC DRAGONS for upgrade (when you are up in queue) to get the WEAPON CF upgrade package you are down for, and get it with HELIUM 8K at no additional charge.

Once a VV sensor is allocated to you, you can choose to pop that in or stay 8K HELIUM. Your choice, and no additional charge.

Tired to find the info in this thread - but it's biiiiigggg now :)

What's the price if a Scarlet-W is ordered before the 11th - and then the option to go from that pre-order to Epic-W is taken? Basically the loophole Jarred mentioned a while back.

It's $10K on top of the Scarlet-W price.
 
I'm staying with SW at this moment in time. I just don't have 10k in my back pocket to drop after iv already dropped 10k aha. It may cost me more later on to upgrade to helium but I thinks its the right decision for me. I'm still hopeful for an October delivery as I am a day 1 order 😄

On October 11th will there be a Large shipment of Scarlet Weapons going out along side the Epic Weapons?
