  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I guess that's a somewhat calculated/expected part of the plan, hence the streamlining, which hopefully will result in higher speed.

I can't stress enough that you guys need to pay attention on the 11th. That line will get long fast.

We are more prepared for Epic-W and Weapon Helium with more cameras than we ever have had ready to ship on day one than we have had in the history of RED... but I have a feeling even all that prep work will not be able to hold the doors from blowing off.

One of my friends introduced me to Woodinville whiskey earlier this year... that's great stuff!

Jared Brent said that if we are a current raven or scarlet-w depositer that since we haven't gotten our cameras yet we'll get a speed pass but said we just talk to our rep to keep our timestamp. Just so I know what to do come oct. 11th. Do i actually place an order online or whats the process? Just don't want to get towards the end of that line. Thank you sir
 
I'm Super happy with all this news. Thank you so much to the entire Red team, I can't wait to upgrade. I have a feeling the SW & Raven guys that have been waiting for a long time are going to get their cameras real quick, and for all the guys who already have a camera (SW) like myself I'm not stressing the possibility of a long wait, I already have something amazing in my hands :)

Great to hear! I've already got it on my calendar and I'll be actively engaged, haha.

I hope this doesn't come off as greedy, I'm just curious, but have you guys hashed out priority on these? I know you've got some long-time customers who are upgrading expensive cameras, so I have to imagine it's impossible to keep everyone happy!

i hope there's a magic weapon helium staging area, just like the epic-w one you shared. epic-w sounds so great... i have to believe its big brother is a beast.

So are we SOL if we ordered through a distributor since it was stated it needs to be ordered through our BS rep to keep time stamp for the upgrade to Epic-W?

Sucks being fully paid with a distributor (red only charges full price at time of allocation) and still not having a camera. Have all the DSMC 2 accessories though still shrink-wrapped. I guess I'll just tape the accessories to my DSMC1 loaner brain to see if they work.
 
It has to support 8K FF to be the bomb (else I am out)
Looks like you already got the 4K ProRes wish
Sampling in real time would put this in a new league - especially if general purpose. Guess 4K ProRes does about the same - it is not a crop, right? Just would be a lot more data to write than if 8K sensor -> 4K .r3d
HDMI 2 out is a no brainer - but if red is using custom chipset rather than off the shelf might not be attractive to add for same price/delivery date - again - puts in next league

No if you ordered through a distributor or dealer you are actually probably in a really good position... Most of them are actually going to help us handle what I am expecting to be a bit of a order taking clusterfuck on the 11th and most of the dealers and distributors will have actual inventory on the day. Just make sure you remind them ahead of time to get your camera ready if you are partaking in the upgrade madness because I'm sure they will sell out just as fast as we do.

Nope.. the white cameras were limited edition and the only ones that will be able to buy those going forward is NHK and NASA.

I figure if we fill his office full of poofy flowers and balloons he won't be able to see his screen and he will just need to go wander down to the production floor and make more cameras instead.
