  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

By my count, 192 Epic-W's already made. Who knows how many they'll have by Oct 11th. Hopefully, Epic-W won't go into a long back-order period.... (I guess it will due to Red over delivering on a price to performance ratio like always)

I don't think that has been confirmed, or did I miss it? It would make more sense if the intervals were the same between epic-w and magnesium. I think it can certainly process 8k at 30p

Depends who you are ( camera wise ) If you are a DSMC2 customer ( Scarlet-W, Weapon MG, Weapon Carbon ) and you are doing a Helium upgrade its going to be a much faster process because of the mechanicals.

That said, There always will be periods of insanity that things stack up.

But this launch will be very different than our past launches.

Hey Jarred,
I am the owner of a well used Scarlet MX, from the looks of it, would we/I qualify for the the Epic W at $17,500?

Maybe this has been covered but I still have to ask (sorry, pages have been piling up when I've been on location without service).

1) Does the upgrade apply to S-W owners who have received the camera? Wouldn't apply to me, but I am curious because...
2) Jarred, is a part of the plan to transition users to Helium (which are apparently coming off the line more quickly at the moment) and then recycle the S-W Dragon sensors (not cooking up at the right rate at the moment) into new S-W bodies to ship out?

Maybe too much info to disclose but I'm just curious about how quickly the S-W line will speed up. Don't think I can swing doubling the cost of the body (though it's an incredible deal), nor do I think we're 8k ready all around. I'm so excited to have to S-W in hand. Hope things clear up for you guys...both for our productions and your sanity.
 
I've been out of the loop a while, just trying to catch up. But one thing confuses me... what is this Epic-W I keep reading about? Wasn't Epic the form factor that has now been replaced by Weapon? I was thinking maybe it was a parallel upgrade that would keep the Epic line going, but now seeing that picture above, I have no clue what is going on!
 
Does anyone have a guess at what the effective sensor size for 5k or 4K would be? I'd love to upgrade from the s-w if I can find the cash I'm just worried 4K and 5k projects would get too cropped.... Sorry if this was covered earlier.

I believe this might be covered in Phil's web tool. There are several wonderful tools for Redusers on his website.

No offence taken Jarred. It is what it is, opinions and views expressed from different perspectives. There is one catalyst that unites us though, our respective views on the Bullshit factor contained within this whole agenda, again down to perspective.
