I'm curious to know if anything has changed with regard to the olpf system on helium that might make it possible to use canon or Nikon mount FF still lenses in conjunction with a focal reducer aka "Speedbooster" to achieve a field of view close to the width of full frame or vista vision? I know this is not practical on epic and dragon due to the placement of the olpf but I haven't seen any discussion regarding possible use of focal reducers on weapon 6k or helium 8k. If anyone has any thoughts I'd be interested in learning more about the possibilities... It'd be a great "budget" way to achieve a VV look and also a nice tool to have for low light situations and certain projects.

Well I'm already the proud owner of a defective Scarlet-W that has barely been used.

After successful shoots over the course of the last 3 months my Scarlet-W has become Unresponsive!

Hmm....sounds like "barely used" is a slight exaggeration.

How long are you leaving the camera in its on, but unresponsive state? It can sometimes take up to 25 mins to update the firmware for the display, making you think the camera is unresponsive.

If you haven't already, turn the camera on with the display attached and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.

If both lights are blinking green then this is definitely the case.

Also, on response times... you're in Australia. The time difference is huge. Bear that in mind.

Hmmm... I would consider 20 x 8hr days barely used.

Left the cam on for 2hrs. Alteady updated 2 firmware version so I'm familiar with the process and time it can take.

Let the camera sit with 4.7" for over 30 mins on both mounting points. Swapped out I/O module with Jetpack for external signal and still no image. Also SSD not registering mag insertion.

Amber and green.

Well aware of the time difference. Thanks for the reminder though. I was under the impression that "after hours emergency number" was exactly that...

Alright Jarred, seems to be many people are already in the air on the way to IBC. So lets take a moment to spill some information while no one is looking...

Ha ha so true,

When Brent emailed me back as He was going to LAX... On the way to Amsterdam... :)

Now is the time!!

Hi Matt,
I'm not sure a client would want A7 footage mixed with Scarlet-W midway through production... Shooting with another cam isn't my issue it's the ongoing projects...

Man's got a point. I'm waiting for the faithful to yell at him about how he should have a spare RED body at all times. Come on, you know you want to do it.

That advice is tantamount to advising people get less expensive cameras so that they can afford two, if they're to be matching. Most people buying Scarlet-W are startups who can't afford two Scarlet-Ws.

Exactly. Even a midrange production isn't renting/buying two camera bodies unless it has to. Yet, I've seen people here give just exactly that advice many times, often in a snarky way, putting down the original poster for not being 'professional' if he/she doesn't have multiple RED camera bodies on hand at all times. It happened when R1 came out, when it became R1MX, for Epic, and it happened for Scarlet and Dragon. So why not have it happen to the guy having troubles with his S-W?

Using that logic, in not too long, if you can't afford to buy two VV's, guess you just don't count as a pro...
That's for the snarky comments.

For others, you do need to start somewhere.

Get the tools you can afford and spend your time learning.

Indeed if something fails it should be fixed if under warranty ASAP. I have 3 cameras for what I do and usually one is just back up, I did purchase 2 scarlets, mainly because they will both be used at the same time, but also to have one as back up. When things can't be re shot you gotta have your butt covered. Hopefully everything works out for the guy having issues.

Would love to hear if people have been receiving more cameras this month.

Steve

I ordered mine at 18:57 and did not get allocated

Mine was 17:06 and did get allocated. No cameras to put it on yet...but it will be my first piece of DSMC2 gear, other than a t-shirt. Excited for that!

Awesome. I am glad these are moving out. I ordered at 19:00. Can't wait to try it on my Raven.

Hey Jarred/Brent,

I'm not sure what the queue is like for the DSMC2 Side Handle, but if there's someone that could benefit from moving ahead (I ordered minutes after Jarred's post) I'd be willing to pass it along.

Still waiting for our S-W here so I'm happy to help out someone who can put it to good use.
