Unless you have a contract that guarantees supply of goods on a particular date, then delivery "chat" from a sales rep or manufacturer should not be relied upon.
Don't expect a linear timeline for product improvements nor timely notice of how specs and price of new kit could affect your business.
This goes for all manufacturers, especially Red, who have a vigorous development program in what is a very competitive marketplace.

We certainly should allow for hiccups in production as we all have experienced that rarely is anything done exactly on time and on budget. I think, especially for people who are new to the RED ecosystem like myself, that when pre-ordering directly from RED a simple disclaimer on the order form saying cameras could take up X months to be delivered" would be enough to help people think through there purchase decision. I'm very excited to get my hands on the S-W, and pumped to see all these new allocations, but like others have said before - I would've held off in making any public announcement about my purchase until Sept or Oct. Not whining, just hoping to add some good ideas.
