  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Today is my birthday!! Just turned 45! Man, time flies.
Anyone else birthday today?
Let's mark Oct 11, 2016 historic and celebrate!

According to my dealer, my Epic-W has been allocated and shall arrive anytime this week. Lets hope for today or tomorrow.
Waiting for their call.

Congratiulations! That would be a nice birtday surprise if you could pick it up today would't it?
 
Have not slept since page 1...ha ha. Must sleep a few hrs. Hope this drunken finance plan is something special... as my unused gear liquidation sale has not started yet to raise all my funds. I have a very recent time stamp so hoping that buys me some additional time. My RAVEN is holding me over for right now.

Haha, I go away for a few weeks on my Honeymoon and REDUser goes insane! :D

So for those of us who had important Life-Stuff to deal with, what's happening with the Dragon upgrade. It's apparently Back (and apparently also left to follow me on a holiday for a while? ) I'm trying to binge-watch 200 seasons of REDUser and I think I lost the plot somewhere. As a Scarlet-MX to Epic-MX to Epic-Dragon owner what's the "correct" move right now?

Am I supposed to use the "loophole" to put down a deposit on a Scarlet-W tomorrow morning, sell my Epic-Dragon as a package when my Epic-W comes up? Is that the right move?
Or is the restored Epic-Dragon upgrade path the best offer even if you can put down a rapid deposit?

I don't mind using the loop hole and selling my camera, although I will be a bit sad to see my ol' faithful go, but not sad enough if it means saving a good chunk of change, especially since I'm currently out a wedding and honeymoon worth of cash. I'm sentimental, but not that sentimental. ;)

What I can recall is that epic dragon to epic-w cost you arond 15K. If you want the loophole you need to order the scarlet-w and let your rep know you want epic-w before the announcement. The cost of the switch is 20K for the epic-w body total.

Edit: congatiulations on your marrige! Don't forget to first ask the mrs now! :thumbup1:

Dude you have to put a deposit on the S-W NOW! if you want to be able to get the discount upgrade tomorrow. Im actually not sure if the cut off is midnight 30 min ago. But if you upgrade from epic-Dragon then you have time. Not sure what the price is for that tho.

Ok so that would sound very much like Scarlet-W is the best approach. (Hence the drama)

$10k for Scarlet-W, $10k for upgrade = $20k - ~$10k for Epic-Draogn sale = $10k upgrade.

Is there a Weapon-Mg style accessory package in that $15k? If so that would make it worth waiting for. If not, the Scarlet-W definitely seems to be the way to go.

And if you do let your rep know, it just needs to be email time-stamped before 11am that you want to upgrade or they have to read your email and enter it into the computer before 11am? (That also means I need to figure out who my latest bomb squad rep is. I'm on like my 5th now...)

My dealer said pick up this week for sure. Still hoping for today or tomorrow though.
 
To clarify, you just need your deposit in now, or at least before Jarred posts the official announcement but that would be rolling the dice as he stated. Rep notification of upgrade to Epic-W can be after announcement, like sometime tomorrow after you read up on your options. Upgrade from Scarlet-W does give you the Drunken Finance plan path which is still unknown but should have details tomorrow.

Like someone mentioned , its going to be a harder sell, trying to sell Epic Dragon (DSMC1) for ~10k when the can buy Scarlet-W (DSNC2) for 10k and have it in few months time, plus S-W has a future path, while Epic-Dragon is seeing its last upgrade train. think more of 7k for a quick sale. Valuation changes pretty fast with each successive entry of a powerful alternative

Isn't it that you need to order S-W now (or before 11th so now could already be to late)... and AFTER 11AM when E-W is announced you go to the red.com to buy upgrade package (or if none is available, you contact your rep to change your order)?

You can't really make a purchase before 11AM before knowing what the product exactly is, what is the deposit, finance plan etc. Also I believe Jarred said these upgrades will be available until end of the year or if they end up being too popular causing huge back order log they may pull the upgrades off earlier (at least for S-W case). Therefore if I've understood this correctly, in the case of S-W if you have your order S-W in, or have any other camera registered to your name now, then AFTER 11AM you can start buying or contacting them for changing to E-W and this will go on until they pull the plug which could be anything from few days to few months.

That sounds like the Dragon folk might get something, or were going to get something but now might not still. I think I'll sit on the Epic for now. It doesn't hurt I guess to put in a deposit and just cancel it after 11a depending on what's what.

Speaking of last second figuring, do DSMC 1 lens mounts work with DSMC2?
 
I am in no rush to upgrade my S-W order to E-W. So I may wait just a couple days or longer to email rep. All the other guys have been waiting a long time. Anyone else going to hold off?

@Brent Will there be for warning if the E-W line gets too big and you may shut the upgrade program off early?
 
I just saw that my rep is from the UK. With the time shift, how do I proceed (who do I contact) to still get on the first upgrade train as they won't answer to my mail in the evening in the UK?

Yeah first for us in the EU. The whole EU is I think under Daniel Judge.
So when he starts on the 12th. He will make his list for the EU alone. That's what I think.
Just called, he is not in yet.
