Hi all

Have been working on our new little split/data wrangling system for the last month and would like to share.

Runs Completely off 12V.

Full HD SDI Capture and Playback(Matrox MX02).

Lexar FW800 Card Reader.

4 Drive Raid 1 for R3D Backup.

LTO 3A for onset R3D Backup.

Full Audio Capture and Playback (AES,Balanced & Unbalanced)

Internal Battery (1 hour) for hotswaping Block Batteries

VDA for up to 4 simultaneous HD SDI outs.

Internal relay system to switch HD SDI out to Live View at any stage even if the computer is doing something else or has crashed.

Here are some pics.

Cheers, Chris

Wow very cool. I would prefer a trackball and put a blu-ray in there though.

Does it have a self destruct?

Yeah, very cool. Is something that would be on the market at some point? What would something like this approximately cost?

You will definitely need a model with a RED Rocket card in there when it's available. If that could be incorporated, this would be the ultimate on-set machine.

I can only repeat: How much?!

Do you have plans to commercialise this? If not, I'd be keen to hear more about the internal components, especially what kind of desktop configuration you've squeezed into the case.

Apart from the LTO drive, what other external storage options do you use? I'm thinking for client drives etc.

Bit of a thread hijack here, but related.

Does anyone know if this Delkin eFilm Express card CF reader works with the RED 16GB cards?

Very cool Indeed. Any chance you could throw up a parts list to build one?

Get real: a microwave or blender would kill the battery.

A sun tea brewer/dispenser on the other hand could be made to work with minimum impact on processing...

So what, in all, does it actually do? And how is the LTO connected to the MBP?
