  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

"The Third & The Seventh" - fully CG-animated short is spookily realistic!

I like it. But when you see the close up of the camera there is 135 CM written near the lens rim... if its all about the details in this short, I have to ask if this is an actual camera that exists or some artist's liberty taken there?

While I started watching it, I kept waiting for the CGI to 'start,' then I realized...

BREATHTAKING!

But I have to ask... is EVERYTHING in it CGI? I don't know CGI too well - but to see this level of details is incredible. Seems almost impossible!

Can someone really create such grass, such texture in the objects, such trees with leaves blowing in the wind (all 101% realistic, to the minutes details) on a personal computer?

I watched the making of... are we sure it's not a practical joke? Like shooting real grass, real trees etc and THEN adding some lines there in the making of to say it was CGI?

If it's true, then we can create absolutely EVERYTHING now on CGI, no doubt. Even seeing Avatar, you can tell things are fake in there (CGI). Not on this short!!!

It's true. And it's certainly possible on a personal computer. Welcome to the wonders of 64 bits. ;)

Pretty sure though that the person is a green screen element.

The person was the only one I was CERTAIN it was CGI. I had doubts about everything else. Look closely and you will realize this to be true.

This short is some of the best architectural CG work I have seen. And I see a LOT of it, believe me. Not only that, it was very well put together. Nice pacing, although a bit slow to start. All in all a very impressive piece, especially from a single artist.

Anyone who sees a lot of CG will be able to tell this is CG. The procedural textures used (many of them stock algorithms), unrealistically perfect lines, joints, flat surfaces, etc.. are all dead give-aways.

The guy is a master of lighting his scenes, color and composition.

Anyway, I loved this short. I wish I could take the time to make all my architectural work look half this spectacular. My clients would love it too if it wouldn't take me forever and cost them a mint.

135CM lens??? ;)

For my point of view "The Third & The Seventh" CG looks much better than CG that WETA's did for "Lovely Bones".

As I said that before he deserves a job in one of the best CG VFX studios like a WETA.

Forgive the hyperbole, but this is the best cg I've ever seen (I'm no expert though). I almost can't believe that all of this is computer generated.

I have just got to join the crowd here, I do a few 3D jobs a year, and i have spent a lot if time learning 3D modelling and animation, and this film is just beautiful poetry at work.

Worthy of an Oscar!

He probably saw an old lens marked 13.5 cm, the point had probably worn off. About right for a standard lens for that camera.

He deserves to be his own boss
