The secondary LCD/EVF port and HDMI port cannot be used at the same time

Is this hardware limitation or it can be changed via firmware? I have rig which cover top lcd port with handle but use side port with extender cable for LCD.
That mean that I can't use HDMI for HD link with this rig??

I suggest getting the Wooden Camera top plate where the ports get moved to the side.
