I will appreciate some input on how you guys are working with exposure.
I did some testing with build 16 and what I experienced was that you have to expose to the right or else you get noise in the low light areas of the picture.
So what I did was looking how far I could push the exposure to the right in raw mode and then go back to the normal exposure in RED SPACE. By normal exposure here, I mean push the exposure right to the edge before clipping.
The difference between RAW clipping and the RED SPACE clipping was 1 2/3 stops. I choose to expose right in the middle of those two, and got really nice results. Clean images with very little noise.
But if I go that way , all my footage look to bright and overexposed in RED SPACE so it seems that I have lost my reference for the later grading.I can imagine the producer saying " hey Steen...it looks way too bright for me" and me saying " dont´t worry.. Its because of the noise floor so I have to overexpose...in RAW SPACE you have the details all the way".
Do you guys change the RED SPACE lut So it look more well exposed on the monitor and still keeping a reference in the metadata for grading??
FEEED MEEE!!!!
Cheers
