  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The RED Tech In Action

Thanks for the case for my mac pro. It helped me get this RED Rocket to set!

I see you've got a Rock N Roller cart there. I recently got one too for my Mac Pro rackmount case. But now I'm thinking of scraping that project and just getting a Maxx Digital external PCIe box so I can connect the RED Rocket to my MBP.

Of course, if you need to transcode everything before leaving the set, then a Mac Pro with a fast RAID would be a better way to go.

rack mount, and down time...

rack mount, and down time...

Jason, Von, how much time you want to be ready and how much to wrap?

The question goes to... If you have four locations to go in one shift does this wire madness affect the production turnaround?

Hi,

this was a special set up where I was told I could be in the same location all day. That's why it looks like "wire madness". Either way, I never slow down production. I have a mini van with a ramp so most of this when rack mounted stays in a case on the cart and rolls in and out of the mini van very fast!

I try to make it a personal goal to be set up and ready before camera at each location. Most of the time I beat them to the punch! Even though I am the only one in my unit (no second ac to help me out, etc). If I have to I just grab a pa to help wrap it all up.

here is a pic of my data rack kit. UPS installed on bottom rack(you cant see it in the pick cuz its small and made to be rack mounted in the back of this skb shallow case) in back for use when needed( I like to use these small eSATA bus powered drives most of the time, them you just need a surge protector no UPS)

Wire storage space also stored below.

Top shelf is for the drives (master, clone and red drive). Works great when I need to move cuz it's all one unit! I just pick it up with the computer (gaff taped to the top" and put in on my passenger seat in my van! I can be downloading if needed on the way to the next location and while I'm unloading the carts off the mini van ramp.

remote power is off a honda i series geni or a optima battery with an inverter. Both work fine with this set up.
