Peter.. hey thanks dude.

pheboglobe.. thanks dude.
the lens that flared was the 50mm f1.4 nikon, what caused it to flare is a 350w arri tungsten light... we put it on his side to simulate that effect.

First I would like to say that I mean no offense - but the phone's DOF is little too shallow in my honest opinion... :D Everything else I have see so far is stunning thou...

How is the heat over there right now? Last time I went to Fujairah to rent a plane it was 45˚ in shade... :) BTW - UAE must be the cheapest place to rent an aircraft - You should be able to get some great aerial footage...
I would also love to see Burj-Al-Arab at 4K from the air... :)

Explendid work, would like to see some footage tough!
Seems like an interesting proyect.

Keep the good work.

Akube,

Looks great. I am excited that every posted clip shot on Nikons looks so good.

Did you have a problem with breathing lenses? Was it difficult keeping focus?

Nice work,

Omar

Nice lighting. You don't see that use of contrast much anymore... ;) I think we will be seeing some contenders for cannes out of this lot in the near future.

yeah i took two shots of the phone.. i took another one a little higher to have the numbers lay a little more flat for more depth.

fujaira.. yeah the seneca's are real cheap... but that's only in fujaira.. lol. and i've heard of one dieing in one of those. I would rather take a chopper.

the reason i shot everything on this entire 5 day shoot at f1.4-f2.8 is that there's a bug on my sensor. if i stop it down anymore you would see a dot very clearly. that's another reason i did not light the backgrounds so well because if i did you could see the spot.

I didn't really get much breathing with the prime lenses and the 17-30.. but i got some serious.. serious serious breathing with the crappy sigma zoom.
focusing with shallow dof.. is seriously tough.. and i shot most of this handheld btw. focusing can be a real paaain.. and the actors get seriously out of focus by a slight move while standing still.

Paolo Tinari, Eisenstein
thanks. will show some ext stuff and show some footage.

supernova
music to my ears man.. but I don't think this can get there.. maybe sundance.. but def. not cannes.. i was there this year. I know their taste.
this one's a comedy/action short. it is as funny as hell. we had to do 21 takes at times because no one could hold it in... which includes me.. and i am known for being too grouchy on sets.

like i said.. in the near future... Hopefully i will see you there ;) Maybe a "couple of weeks"

Will keep an eye for more stuff...

Like it...

Jim
