Looks like gray is the new black!

I have to say that this is a great re-design of the site. It enhances the readability, and the gray makes images look better. Props to Jarred and the RedUser crew! I do have to say that I think it's time for an update of the RedUser masthead. It needs to be more... Epic. :-)

agreed..

I guess the yellow links will grow on me... they sure are easy to spot.

Site is looking great. Thanks for the free "firmware updates".

LOL! At least you can read 'em. Seriously, the shades of gray totally work for me, I find everything more legible, and even the structure of the forums seems easier to read quickly.

Im not guna make a fuss or anything but i really dont like the new layout, feels cheap with all the contrasting reds blacks and grays. - but just my opinion

I can barely read the "Reply to Thread" page. Lots of black text on dark gray background...

These are probably just teething problems, but is anyone else finding it hard to read on an iPhone/iPad? The old Reduser site worked just as well for me on mobile devices as it did on a huge monitor. I'm finding it hard to tell where one post ends and another begins on the What's New screen and thread numbers are overlapping the thread headings.

Somebody just changed something today and now the white borders on the side of the screen where the latest post time and user is listed blindingly distracting to me.

Some things are really nice, I especially like the post composition window. I find the overall look a bit busy though, too many bars I think.
I do most of my Reduser browsing on my iPad, the white bar that appears at the top is distracting.

My biggest problem with the design is that it is a bit too padded - it just feels like it could be a lot more space efficient (in the sides especially - at the size I have my browser window, there's a good 20 - 30 pixels wasted on either side of the page...

IMHO the blue links were just as easy to spot and easier on the eye. Yellow is so... yuck.

There is some good stuff here, particularly the updated reply to form and the file upload handling.

In general I do find the site harder to read, while that's hard to pin down exactly there are two particular areas that I can be specific about.

The New Post page is tough on the eyes, the extra bold sans-serif font for unread messages in particular.

The topic review section of the reply to dialog and the preview post page with their black text on a dark grey background are also a tough read.

Hope that helps,

Steve

Kind of a bug a guess...

Just did a "find all posts" by search on Deanan, and his oldest post appeared first...

I am a conservative guy and have to get used to "new" stuff.
But I think I'll grow used to the new look pretty fast.

Thanks Jarred!

Another thing that's distracting on the iPhone is that the thread headings in New Posts appear in a smaller font size than the names of the poster, making it hard to scan for new posts as the names of the posters dominate the list.

No offence, but I'm not much of a fan either. I find it difficult to scan a page quickly with no borders between postings and all the fonts being of the same style... they all blur together a bit...

Edit: After a little digging, it appears to be contained to the Search portion of the site and includes the New Posts area which is typically where I live on here... so I would suppose this is something in the works...
