After a most recent event I posted about it here:( http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?125848-A-new-Direction-as-my-Father-Passed-Away ) which brought me to the final and conclusive decision to go back to the making of the film based on my Life Story, having "REDUSER" been an incredibly important part of this past decade and part of the actual story, together with RED, it seemed important and very logical to me to start here especially in consideration of the incredible number of fellow Filmmakers form all over the world many of which I met in person thru my travels, that have continued to show support and asked to be made participant...

This has always been my most important project of my life, because of what it really means to me, and now it must move forward at once...

Very good that you are going ahead with your dream. Please do not stop if any non- experienced person ask you to stop or change your story substantially.
Often people with failure in life are negative, naysayers, denigrating, loves carping and are inclined towards stopping others from achieving their dreams.
And our community here is very supportive and always helpful.

Good luck and all the best Ketch!

No worries... ABSOLUTELY no one can STOP me, nor deviate me form the originality of the storytelling, this is a story based on my life, and it will remain as truthful as possible.

Tickets will be sold for it's viewing next Christmas, this I promise!

All the best of luck to you my friend, stick to your dreams and make them come true.

Ketch, I think you are putting a lot of pressure on yourself. Narrative features can take years to develop, you know this. Take some time, find a writer who can help you develop the story, find the thematic purpose etc. Above all be kind to yourself. All the best.

This project has been in the works my all life, written and re-written over a dozen times as life has evolved and so the story with the years... It has bene put on the fire and off of it time and again...

It's not a new project, just one that needs to be done now.

But yes, I agree, it is lots of pressure no matter what, and this is why I have humbled myself, and prioritize the project, while asking for help here to put together a small team to finish it's developing at the Script, and then Storyboard, give it budget and move it forward to Producers, Studios and Investors alike, as well as Social media and possibly a Kickstarter campaign, this one I will not pretend to do alone, this one will have all the help it needs...

Btw,

This is the tiny Medieval town of Carnaiola in Umbria Italy, I grew up in till age 11, a place of happy childhood memories, the only happy ones really... The film opening scenes will be shot here...

Dear Ketch,
I wish you all the very best. You seem to be still standing after quite some personal knockbacks and are graciously and courageously sharing that with others. I am all for someone pursuing their dream(s), and your passion is inspiring, but I don't want to see you either publically or privately hurt yourself.

My 2 pence (or cents) worth is that I see young people in my local community go on a short course at our local facility, pick up a camera, and try to make some "thought provoking" or "socially conscious" documentary, usually to vanish without a trace, or not advance beyond a tiny comfort zone niche. I honestly believe they mistakenly forget about the notion of entertaining others, whilst a guy like, say, Michael Moore can do both. On a bigger scale, if you look at an icon like Cary Grant, I understand that he had deep personal issues balancing his huge screen persona with his humble working class origins and traumatic past. I mention him because I believe he actually did make a film paralleling his own story (title eludes me), but the box office was very cruel, and he stuck to the make-believe persona afterwards.

You know Hollywood has a certain side - I can picture some exec turning your script back to front saying "Where is the cgi monster, Mr Rossi?". My advice, most humbly meant, is maybe make an entertainment based film appealing a general wider audience first, then maybe make your film from a position of more strength to reduce risk. Even Peter Jackson rose from the zombie film. But I get the impression you are sick and tired of one delay or another and won't let anything stop you now, in which case your shared honest emotions and drive is courageous and I wish you every success anyway.

Sorry for being garbled, I wrote stright off, no tidying up.

Thanks Saied!

I truly appreciate the comments and advice, but I am indeed far beyond all of that now... I did actually take such advices once before and moved to make an other film, which turned pout to be even more complex and delicate in matter then my won possibly...

Fact is that now, I am no longer willing to delay this project anymore, but while I most definitely won't for to remain as close to the real story as possible, I am of course willing to take in considerations and advices form either a producing partner or studio based on all possible scenarios in which this could play out, also of course in consideration with what ever Star Power I get to play some of the roles in the Film...

I am not demanding it remains absolutely 100% true to life, but as close as possible, it is a story "BASED" on my real life events, but this does not mean it can't be entertaining nor inspiring or moving to others... It will be written to be so.

Of course on the other end, I am also absolutely and most positively not willing to let it be ripped apart and changed completely in its story base, as it MUST remain as true to life as possible.

And as far as getting hurt, I won't worry too much, I know I don't, I have had my share, and actually now part of the story too, and I am ready for anything coming my way... :)

You're totally crazy :) I can't imagine Steven Spielberg directing a movie called "STEVEN SPIELBERG's LIFE" starring STEVEN SPIELBERG as STEVEN SPIELBERG. You're (by far) the most narcissistic person I ever saw in my life ^^ But I like crazy people. They are the most entertaining ones all around no matter what they do. I really do hope you will finish this project for once as it seems you really need it, probably more for yourself than for the audience. I can see Javier Bardem as Ketch Rossi. But as we know you, it will probably be Ketch Rossi as Ketch Rossi. Hope it will be a big success because seeing you buying all this gears and selling them as new is painfull to my eyes sometimes :D I hope that you will finally get paid instead of paying for your passion, and I hope it will be thousands times more. Procrastination obsolete.

Brian,

When I said to Sam that He was absolutely right about everything, I didn't actually meant the Narcism part... :)

The original title has been for over 30 years "PERSEVERANCE" but since it was strongly opposed thru the years, at the end I decided to use my own name as working title, and because I am still a complete unknown outside of this community, naming it "KETCHROSSI" would be to the rest of the world as if it was titled "Jon Doe" but as many here have suggested it actually might spark curiosity to try and find out whom this ketchrossi is, and that could work in positive searches and interest for the film.

In all actuality while I am making a film about my life, I am doing it not because I think so much of myself, but because I know I have had a story truly worth telling, as there are many out there that needs to see such stories...

The fact that I wanted to play myself in it, comes with the dream of life time, and true, I am no longer a 17 year old, but also the story is not the same, it has evolved, and playing myself at current times and or within a decade of the story to current time, is something I believe in, yet I also am at this time not completely stuck on it, and will do proper scene shooting for screen tests, and if I myself see that I ma not fit for the role, I will be the first one to step out of it and look to place some one else in it.

So, while you do propose the right idea, it is not about making a Ketchrossi toy, none will care nor want one of course, but again your idea is right on the money, as I intend to work on creating some kind of gift for possible bakers who'll we go that route.

Ketch, have you considered telling it as a comedy with a fantasy vs. reality aspect, a bit of an Italiano Walter Mitty?

Would be a mistake as the true story is interesting enough without adding comedy/fantasy elements.

Yes..it is a good story...but to carry a feature is another thing entirely...this story belongs as a one-man documentary play where you narrate the story before
live audience because you have an ability to communicate in that way to connect with people. Acting in film is totally different thing
as well as story wise. And there are people in LA who I can point you to who can help you actually achieve this type of film as you did in the below video..but feature film is like years of preparation and likely no film in the end just because of the sheer economics involved. People here
are rooting for you but better to start small and actually get something done...that way it may lead to something bigger and if it doesn't
at least you can say you have done it best you are able to and can move on to other projects.

Sister of friend of mine did one such film on her father and family: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0220678/

Just let me know what I can do to help.

Cheers - #19

Thanks Blair!

Hey Joe,

Thanks for the suggestion, but no, I have not considered because it would not be the right way to tell this story.

Yes, I know were you are coming from and what you are saying, and totally get it, been well aware of it's difficulties I am seeking out the best I can find to be part of this project, you'll see develop as I go and you'll come to like what will become, of this I am positive.

I have learned my lessons here, and while I in part agree with you as it could be well served as a Docu-film type, and more on a narration side then narrative side, I do believe strongly that were I am headed it will make this story justice, and I know what to expect for myself, this is why I have written in such a way were I am playing myself, (if this is really what will happen at the end) in a way that I ma doing just that, an not trying to be an Actor that I am not.

Casting is the other element that is going to play a huge role and I ma not taking this slightly and already have a list of supporting actor, Cameos etc to give it the best chance, narratively wise I am certain of it's power in the script, in the scenes and in the events, it is compelling, it is powerful and it has it's own legs.

Crew wise, this is what I really need to excel in my choices, since I will be multitasking, I need all the support here I can get, and if I see that I don't have it, I won't overdue it, not this time, not on this project... Yet I am very confident that with do time taken for Pre-Production once assembled the right Cast and Crew, this will be a great project that every one will not only love working on it, but will remember as one of their greatest experiences, I'll make sure of that.

Ketch, after all this, after ROAB, after all your hurdles, you are still determined to do Perseverance the way you always intended to. No one can stop you, and, damn, no one should. Just do your best, enjoy every single moment of it. And whatever the result, share it with us. Definitely want to see this. All the best, and may this film be the first of many for you Ketch! Full support!
