  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OK, I thought getting my camera allocated would calm me down... it did for about an hour... now i'm stir crazy. I'm busy sorting out power, back plates, accessories etc... but now I'm dying for that shipping notice. Bad thing is I have deadlines. Getting a scarlet will obviously will distract me, but also not having it will distract me.

Anyone else going nuts out there? This is probably worse then crack. Thanks Red Team, at least this healthier! Thanks Brian Wilcox for not deleting my file for bugging him so much. You we very helpful and patient.
 
Funny thing is that I hadn't emailed my BSR since the week before Christmas, and then yesterday I finally did and hours later I get my allocation email :)

Bob, FYI, I'm a lot more balanced in person!!!

yes, naming a camera is almost as difficult as naming a child. Originally it was Serengeti, but I realized everything in my life has the word Serengeti in it, so it may get confusing over the next year. So I have changed it to Lengai, which is God of the Masai (I was inducted into the tribe a few years ago by a friend) and it is also a beloved volcano that stands majestically at the edge Serengeti. It's had a lot of significance in my life over the past ten years. So it is only fitting to be the first.

Lengai was to be my epic, as it's a god in itself, but in volcanic eruptions it pales in comparison to the great eruption of Krakatau (or Krakatoa) so I decided to switch. Krakatau was the subject of a documentary I saw on National Geographic when I was six years old and I said the I would one day make films (I also saw Star Wars around then and hence my earlier career in VFX) and go to Krakatau. I made that film this year, and I've sold stuff Nat Geo so most of my goals were met... I missed working on the new star wars by a year or two.

We should have a section on where the names for our cameras come from....

BTW, I'm not the only one naming my cameras after volcanos. Fireman is just as nuts as I am.
 
Scarlet #00567 has arrived in Reno, NV!!! I'll post my thoughts and pictures late tonight. A big thanks to the entire Red Team and my BSR's Kris and McClain, it's been a long wait but I'm unbelievably excited to get started with it!

I got my Allocation notice last night that something very dear is shipping my way :)
 
#356 just showed up, see the new thread. No lcd or SH yet, but lcd is very soon. Need to see if I have any lemo connectors left over to make a cable for my battery belt.

Unfortunately I can't get it to output to hdmi as I am guessing I need to set that in the menu with the SH I don't yet have.

Lastly.. I really don't think the PO# means much as higher serial #'s were delivered before mine.. but were all waiting for the back log to clear so were all in the same boat.
 
I picked up #254 today at RED in Irvine. I was at the event, ordered at 11:30pm on the 3rd, but called in at 7:30pm and was phone adjusted accordingly. My SO is 1497. No LCD or sidehandle. I got the ol' switcheroo on the LCD, as it was allocated to me on the 19th, then the Scarlet was allocated on the 21st, and I guess when I said that I would pick up on the 4th, they sent the LCD elsewhere. I can't say that I'm happy about the LCD, but as many are still waiting, I can't complain. Overall, I'm stoked to have anything.
