  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The List - Please maintain

I'm also beginning to think that realistically I probably won't see my Al Mount scarlet ship this year (Order No XX1054). I'm still waiting for in-stock accessories I ordered two weeks ago to ship.

Either something has gone wrong with my Google Docs account, or the list has been "updated."

Thought I should mention that there is no longer any color coding. I see an all white spreadsheet.

Guys my attitude is think Zen thoughts & remember a new year will bring a new camera :)

I haven't been around long but I definitely get a feeling from what I've read and heard, and that feeling is that producing quantities of fully functional, reliable gear just isn't in this comany's DNA. I'm not sure they have the fire in their collective belly. Is it just me or do others also get this feeling in their gut? Perhaps I've let my pessimism about delivery of my camera get to me.

Every piece of Red gear I have ever laid hands on has been built like a rock and completely reliable. Please leave your snark at the door, especially if you speak out of misheard hear-say and a selfish "But I want a goose that lays golden eggs noooooow Daddy!" attitude.

That's not to say being an absolute fanboy is any better, but come on. Really?

Arnold, I think building functional cameras and quality equipment is exactly RED's strong suit. What seems to be their current disadvantage is only their delivery. I can see how you feel this way as the perception of things is getting worse based on things they don't come through with, like dates.

Good luck while waiting. I have made a commitment to myself and my studio to not wait that much longer. If my gear or even simply notification doesn't come soon, based on principle I'll buy another rig and come back when these are readily available in the store and in stock.

Its what you've read and heard...not what you've used...
I've used REDs gear, its reliable as hell...the R1 was in stock and shipping when I ordered mine, shipped within a week no issues. That was a year or 2 after that had started inital shipping...

They take time to get their ramping on but when they do, its very difficult to order something and have it not on your door step within a week or two. They've unleashed a ton of new products in a short space...in a year we won't probably have any issues with ordering this stuff...

Its making them thats hard, not the relability, not the functionality...those two things RED is damn good on and more than that...they keep making the camera ever more functional after purchase. Hence a lot of people bought into Scarlet because they knew what they were getting into...or at least I'd hope so...

The problem arises with their delivery abilities as most have said. As in, getting the product from that online click and pay to the door step of the customer in good timing. Given these aren't just plastic pieces of junk slapped together so gotta understand, its difficult. I think most people here would've preferred had RED said 'pre-order starts now' and that it would be shipping in 'limited quantities' on Dec 1st and that the ACTUAL full 'in stock' would happen say in April...

If RED went like that, they've given estimation, a time frame for them to get their ramping on and ability to slowly get these out and surprise some people who probably never though they'd get the camera so early

Also means people could financially plan for April instead of say Jan

They are saying its shipping in limited quantities but I guess 'shipping by Dec 1st' meant to most 'yay!new year cameras!' no delays or anything...

Its a patience game but like those in Stage 2 said, when you get the camera, the waiting is paid of instantly when you open that box and switch it on for the first time. Its an intense situation.

EDIT:
Restored it to the previous list since ya'll were saying it was out of whack, give me a shout if anything else :)

Points taken.

At this point all I want to know is, if we ordered in the first hour if we'll still see our Scarlet before Christmas?

Doubtful - very doubtful… I was emailed on Monday (Dec 12) that my Ti PL had been 'allocated'. But by the time the camera winds it's way through the RED order process and shipping structure it probably wouldn't ship until Dec 21 or 22. So just before Christmas if the stars align.
For people recieving allocation notices today or later -

Just any update would be nice, it's been really quiet from Red on this front, especially in regards to the AL Canon Mounts, haven't heard of anymore going out since the first few in the beginning of the month. I'm pretty high on the list and was at the event and haven't heard anything... Even if it's delayed some, it'd just be nice to have a general idea either way.

Seems like plenty of the PL mount versions are going out though.

I'm definitely learning patience through this whole process though ;)

I am a Red newbie and I am learning the RedZen attitude. And will wait it out for sure because what else out there comes close to the Epic/Scarlet? Only thing is, I don't think Red should hold all the money without giving shipping estimates. A deposit is one thing, but to have paid in full and to have 15K sitting in a Red account for who knows how long is kinda bad policy I think. It's the same for all orders too, like the SSD 64GB 4 pack I ordered and my CC was charged the next day, but 8 days later, no shipping conformation.
I think getting a Scarlet AL mount before Xmas is out of the question fall all but the 300 at the event. I order at 8:30 on Nov 3 and doubt I'll see it before February.

I don't think you have to pay in full until your order is allocated. I have only ever paid a down payment on my Red Orders and then I'm charged in full when the processing begins, which typically only takes a few days before they ship my orders out...

Mmmm, my credit card was charged on the 7th of December. As I'm #909 - (but canon AL) I was thinking my number must about be up - but still no word unfortunately. Hopefully any day now as paying CC interest while you wait is not much fun. BUT Aussie dollar has dropped about a cent since then, so probably saved me around $150...
RED clearly has my back :D

Red for sure charged my CC upon order of the SSds. Just deposit on the Scarlet (unless you wire transfer the entire amount).

Camera allocated and everything is paid ... just have to wait for shipping
REDMOTE and SIDEHANDLE is not included
